MTK, So what say you now? Thanks for sharing this sdkskinsfan2001:
What a load of shit...trying to make it sound like he's some sort of martyr for holding out for every last penny. So Brady has set quarterbacks back to the stone ages apparently. Maybe try showing future quarterbacks that you don't need to bleed every last penny out of your franchise, and actually help the team sign other guys... “[T]here’s other quarterbacks that come after you and it would be almost a selfish move to hurt future quarterbacks who get in a position to have a contract,” Cousins told 106.7 The Fan in D.C. on Monday. “And if you don’t take a deal that’s fair to you, then you’re also taking a deal that’s not fair to them and you’re setting them back as well. So there’s different reasons. You just do the best you can.”
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
BS and state of delusion all the way around.
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Again, I don't see the problem. But if it's something that gets your drama queen panties in a bunch, well then enjoy.
|
Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
... problem is it comes off as BS. Never heard this from him before. So he's doing it for the greater good of all QBs. Yeah rite.
He shouldn't take anything less than his fair market value. That's all he's saying. Why is that such a crime?
And this is not exactly what he said. Like I said a little delusional. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
I am still amazed at all of the HATE for KC. The best QB since Brad Johnson or Mark Rypien and half of the fan base wants to run him out of town.
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
What is he saying that's BS? All eyes will be on his deal as it sets the framework for guys that come next.
I don't know what's BS or delusional about that. Nor do I understand why it bothers anyone. If you want to criticize his performance I can understand that, this drama queen stuff with what he's saying is so dumb. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Just say I'm getting every last penny I can and won't take any less. Don't come out and say some bullshit like this. He must think we're all stupid. He would make one hell of a politician.

No, it is what he's saying. You're the one trying to spin it into something disingenuous. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
How am I being a drama queen by talking about what he said on a Kirk Cousins thread on a Redskins fan site?
Market value means what I can trick some team into paying me whether I deserve it or not. I want players, especially qbs as they take so much cap space, to be paid fairly. 25 million might be his market value but we'll be getting ripped off. I have problems with his play, and I have problems with what he says. So shoot me. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
No, it is what he's saying. You're the one trying to spin it into something disingenuous.
I'm spinning it? You're the one attempting to interpret and spin it in a less f'ed up way. And you're continuing to put words in people's mouths by interpreting what he said in your own words. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Even if that BS was true, I don't want my qb worrying about future players for other teams, I want him worried about the Redskins.
I understand why players have to be greedy, but he already has made 20 million dollars just this year and will be rich his whole life, so sign a reasonable contract and help be part of building the team into a super bowl comtender. You don't need 25 million to prove your worth. This is about his ego. I don't care what other BS he says. Honestly, I don't even think he wants to play here. This is just a guess/speculation on my part. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
When is the deadline to franchise players? I have a feeling it's going all the way down to the deadline again. That's gonna be fun.

20 million seems fair to me and I don't think he's worth more than that. That would be top amount I'd personally offer him if i was in charge. The tag amount is based on the top 5 players at his position, and he's not in the top 5, so no way should he get that much. If he gets 22, I'd be upset (for lack of a better word), but I'd live with it, anything more I think it hurts the team more than it helps and he will be drastically over paid. I just want it resolved one way or another so I can get excited about him or pretend he sucks and we don't need him, depending on how it goes, lol. |

He should've not even talked about it and let his agents and the Redskins deal with it. That's the best way to handle it in the media- not to have it in the media. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
It's not a good look especially after yesterday's poor performance. Didn't waste anytime did he?
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
I guarantee that Cousin's camp is going to come to the table with this, he got $19m this year, the tag for next year is $24m, and in 2018 it's $34m. So that's 3 years at $77m or $25.6m per year.
In the end I think a deal worth $22-23m per year makes sense. |

And in college he won 3 out of 4 bowl games and played very well in all 3.As a senior after leading Texas to a 13-0 record probably would have won his 4th bowl game and the national championship if he doesnt get hurt after going 2 for 2. Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
You can tell that this whole demeanor he has about staying with the Redskins is definitely personal. I think he feels slighted and unwanted by Dan/Bruce and he more than wants to stick it to those two assholes. (especially Dan) Let's be real, it's Dan who stopped Cousins career from advancing sooner due to his love for RG3, and even had to have Scott stick up for him to even remain on the team. (otherwise he would have been traded)

Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Who cares about anything other than Kirks play on the field, and how much money it warrants going forward.
That being said it is crazy that anyone thinks he has been anything other than 110% professional about the whole matter. Also Colt is not the answer at all. If KC leaves, there better be a better option than Colt. |

I do not think he is bitter about the RG-3 situation. Lets face it. Griff was the number two pick, and he was the roy. He has to understand that you do not just give up on that after year one? I think Kirk certainly plays with a chip on his shoulder, but that is a good thing. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
I think they will use the non-exclusive or transition tag on him. That will cost less and is someone takes him we get two first round picks.

So thats all I got
Do you mean the Dallas game where he couldn't get the ball to the wr's downfield? Did you also forget about the other games he played in that year? Then he got hurt. Bottom line is if McCoy was better than KC he'd be on the field. The coaches.. Gruden, McVay, Cavanaugh see them up close everyday. They know more than we do. If McCoy was a starting caliber QB another team would have signed him. He's a great backup QB, not a 16 game starter. And what he did in college doesn't mean anything at this point. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
This is a good breakdown from Cooley on Cousins play this year. (per game)
https://twitter.com/D_Wright_One/status/816286640511610881 The inconsistency is probably why they aren't sold on him entirely. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
I'm just wondering how other QBs out there would compare on that Cooley scale? I bet a lot of Pro Bowlers would have similar ratings.

Profootball Focus had Cousins in their second highest ranking tier at number 8 overall. Their top 10 QBs: 1. Brady 2. Matt Ryan (this is the guy no one has talked about) 3. Aaron Rodgers 4. Andrew Luck 5. Russell Wilson 6. Derek Carr 7. Drew Brees 8. Cousins 9. Matt Stafford 10. Tyrod Taylor |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
We should be able to critique (positive and negative) a player's performance, demeanor, and leadership skills without being called haters. We all agree that KC turned out to be the true NFL starter as between him and RG3. (And don't think he didn't know it and developed a little chip on his shoulder -- that's the mark of a competitor.)
But here we are, facing another decision point, trying to understand what our FO thinks and plans to do. It's a great discussion. Personally, I'm in the try to sign him at 20m camp, understanding that it might take 22-23. Easy to say, but what if he demands 26? That's the crux of this argument. That 20-22 range says that there are legitimate reservations about KC, and those of you who say "trust the front office" on a whole range of personnel matters should also trust them here. They have some concerns about signing him at 25-27, and so should we. That doesn't make them or us haters. Here are my concerns. I have no idea whether this is what the FO is thinking. His skills as a QB, which are top notch, are not matched by that intangible passion-driven thing that the elite QBs have. KIrk was having a much better year than Cam when we played the Panthers. But Cam, even dinged, willed himself to a great performance while Kirk was so-so. Cam is anything but a "consummate professional," but I want Kirk to have some of what Cam has. If you listen to Kirk's interviews on Grant and Danny after games, he is oddly dispassionate. I have always liked this about him -- he keeps his cool, he doesn't whine about other players, doesn't get down on himself, etc. But when you think about this in terms of leadership disposition, my radar is catching a little static. I wouldn't care about this much for any position other than QB. This doesn't mean he isn't a worthy franchise QB. But it should concern us that the most important guy on the team, the biggest cap hit on the team, however talented, may not have that "FU, I'm taking this game over" in his gut. Garçon showed this on Sunday. Kirk did not. I'm not a Kirk hater. But I'm old enough to remember legions of less talented Skins who thrived in the spotlight. Kirk's stats show that he has the talent, no argument there. I don't know if he has the steel to be truly elite. I'm willing to pay to find out -- the viable options are bleak -- but let's admit the risks involved. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Just passing on what I heard on ESPN 980 radio just now. Riggins was on and not sure of who the other guys were, they all seem to agree that Cousins will go for the "money grab" and won't give the Redskins any discounts. For various reasons he doesn't feel appreciated, and thinks he was always better than RG3 and never should have sat behind him.

I just don't see Cousins being that contrite. You know, he was giving a pretty fair situation here by Gruden which allowed him to compete and win the job. Hello, that's life. We hold the trump which is the franchise tag, he is gambling not taking the long term deal. Big time |

I don't expect discounts and any player is going to go for the money. Still, I feel Cousins lost a lot of bargaining chips by laying a turd in the biggest game of the year. IMO, he deserves Andy Dalton money. I hope the doesn't expect Russell Wilson money. I just hopes he goes into this negotiation with a sense of a reality. |
