Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Just read into how the cap implications work. When a player has been placed on the Reserve Did Not Report list, his salary does not count against your salary cap (after all he won’t be paid until he reports). And of course the player does not count against your 53 man roster.
So that explains why Albert Breer’s list shows the Skins have $21M in cap space. Trent is considered on the Reserve Did Not Report list. If/when he reports, he will immediately begin counting against our cap and take our cap space back to the $10M or so shown by both Overthecap and Spotrac. |

Miami just got 2 1's for Tunsil... Now u see why Trent hasn't been moved

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
If the skins were offered anything in the ballpark of what the texans/dolphins deal was some heads need to roll for not trading TW. We are not a super bowl contender this year so lets get some picks and replace him with a number 1 pick next year. Not to mention other picks as well. Its a shame if they screw this up like cousins.

We are the worst run franchise period. I’m fuckin livid. I’m sure Texans would have giving up a 1st round pick and more. I can’t believe how fuckin retarded this piece of shit Bruce Allen is. I hate this mutherfucker |

So Tunsil wasn’t available huh? Should have traded Trent for Tunsil.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Dan needs to call BA in and ask him whose side is he on. We wouldn't have gotten that deal but it could have been a good one. I hope I'm wrong and something great comes up for TW before long but BA may have missed the boat.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
The Texans gave up:
TWO First Round draft picks One Second Round draft pick 2 players. Why did we not take that deal? Because if two reasons: 1. Bruce Allen, who is a puppet of Dan Snyder, is incompetent. 2. Dan Snyder is petty and thus angry that Trent Williams doesn’t want to play here anymore. IF HE WON’T PLAY FOR US, HE’S NOT PLAYING FOR ANYONE. Dan Snyder may be THE worst owner in the NFL. Certainly the team of Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen is a complete disaster for this franchise. TW will not play here this year and we will get some weak deal next year for a draft pick. I underestimated how bad Bruce Allen was and how petty and low Dan Snyder could go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There's no way any player on this roster isn't worth 2 first rounders. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Yo...that deal Texans gave to the dolphins was the desperation trade we needed.
Seriously...if Bruce was picking up the phone and saying we aren’t trading him without listening and engaging then he fucked up big time. First, we agree that was a desperate move and an overpay by the Texans. It def was Second what did the Texans need more than anything...a Tackle. Third, a first round pick for Trent was the established bottom per the New England attempt. Lastly, Trent is clearly the better tackle than Tunsil. Look at what Texans gave up...so a first and a 3rd round seem out of range for Trent vs what the Texans paid for Tunsil? Bruce fucked up royally. The Texans just made the desperate move we were searching for folks. We will never get close to that for Trent now. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
You know what the best part of this Texans-Dolphins trade is? Ya'll acting like Kenny Stills ain't shit. He gives the Texans a solid #2 at a position where they have talented but off-injured guys. But nah, the way this trade is talked about around here it's almost as if the Dolphins had to sell the Texans on taking Stills too.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Honestly the Tunsil trade just gives the Redskins more leverage, in my opinion. Now the price, if you want Trent, has been set. I think it's pretty clear that Trent either plays under the current contract, sits out the year, or his agent brings a haul equal to or better than what the Dolphins got for Tunsil.

Kinda agree. It's glass half full vs glass half empty. On one hand we may have missed a tremendous offer and lost a potential desperate LT buyer... on the other hand the price for an elite LT (+a young WR) has now been set crazy high and the next desperate LT buyer will have to come close to that kind of offer. Objectively we're in a good negotiating position... but I get that your confidence our FO will handle this well can be low. |

Man, last couple years I’ve brought up Stills several times as a type of WR we need...solid veteran presence who can run routes and fly. I like him in that deal. But again we are talking 2 first rounders and a second. Is Stills worth even a second rounder...when AB garnered a 3rd? Don’t get me wrong, I like Tunsil as well but Texans paid a ridiculous price. With Texans and Pats both making trades to secure Oline help, the market significantly shrunk for TW. Hoping he shows, but the opportunity to get a first and 2nd or first and 3rd, significant compensation for what everyone here mostly agreed as the top left tackle in the game...that’s probably passed. The big trade last year was All Pro Khalil Mack who was exchanged for 2 first rounders and 3rd round...but Oakland sent them a second rounder pick back along with Mack. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
The only way TW gets traded this week is if someone with likely high to mid round prospects comes up with a 1st and change, or a top WR (and change?). I don't see anyone with a WR they are willing to let go, so we're trading him for future options or holding onto hope he reverses course. Personally I can't see him ever wearing B&G again so we either balls it up like by letting him sit out 2019 or swallow our pride and get valuable picks. But who's in the market for an LT now that the Texans and Patriots have done their deals? The Phins seem to be building for the future with youth, so I can't see them replacing Tunsil with anyone over 30. Can't see anyone left willing to shell out high picks at this stage.

First off, this deal was done by a team, the Texans, that doesn't even have a GM - and it showed. Second, this team was desperate for a LT and everybody knew it. They should have played their cards closer to the vest. A competent GM would have done that. Third, we don't even know exactly what the Texans paid for Tunsil because the Dolphins sent them two good players. How much did the Texans pay for Stills in this deal? That may be where they got fleeced. It was well known that Stills ran afoul of the Dolphins owner over his criticism of the owner's personal political activities. Stills was as good as G-O-N-E from the Dolphins because of that. In this deal, he should have come at a price somewhat lower than his normal market value. Again, no GM in place. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Tunsil is younger and more durable than Trent. At this point he's going to command more on the open market. The deal was w/ the Pats and probably not the Texans. Either way Allen is stupid cause he's making it personal and doesn't have any ability to forward think.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Regardless of what we all think the Texans would have given us for TW versus what they gave Miami, it clearly doesn’t look good for Bruce Allen and his band of bozos. This tells us there’s a highly possibility Houston was offering a nice package or AT LEAST a 1st rounder.
If this ends badly for Washington, or Washington ends up empty handed, or the season fails because of the hole at LT (knowing what we could have gotten from Houston) this HAS to be the final straw with Bruce Allen in a looooooooooong line of losing seasons, botched opportunities, mismanaged issues, and bad decisions. He is clearly the worse “GM” in the NFL. But don’t worry. He knows the truth and has everything under control.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don’t believe that for a second. Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
The Bar HAS NOT been set. The bar is gone. The two teams with the most need for LT have filled that need. Here’s the issue now for Bruce Allen:
1. If he takes a trade now and it is not close to the Houston deal, then everyone will ask: why didn’t you take the Houston trade (even if a bit lower)? Result: BA can not trade TW this year. 2. BA has said TW will play HERE this year. TW has stated multiple times that he will NEVER play here again. Neither can back down or they look weak and indecisive. RESULT: BA will not play for the Redskins in 2019. My prediction is that the Left side of the OL is a big problem for us this season - hurting both the run game and the passing game. We end up trading TW for a 2nd Round draft pick after this season. Lose, lose, lose. Sometimes taking a very good deal is better than waiting for the PERFECT TRADE, that never comes. This could be the case, but if Bruce refused to even take calls at this stage in the game that doesn’t make sense. To me, once the offer of the first rounder had been made from the Pats and we stated to them it’s not enough. Why not pick up the phone and tell the Texans “we have any offer for a first and are negotiating additional picks in what we consider fair value for Trent. What’s the best multi pick offer you can make for him” Are we to believe that the Texans would even refuse to offer anything in the neighborhood after seeing the the total package for above average WR and an emerging but not established Tackle? It’s been reported by most that the Texans has interest and definitely reached out. Bruce being stubborn again is affecting the franchise. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Trent Williams 31
Laremy Tunsil 25 and two years remaining on his rookie deal. |

The only reason the Dolphins traded Tunsil, was to stockpile draft picks causing they are sucking for Tua.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Also, the last thing that I want is our team to trade with the Pats. Those mf'ers always come out winning on their trades. They probably were giving up their 2023 first rounder for all we know.
As I said before, I'm fine if Trent decides to sit out the season. That means more cap money for the team. |

Seems most Redskin fans here are ignoring Trent's age and his durability issues. No way in hell the Patriots offered a first for him. The Patriots usually get the upper hand when it comes to trades, they don't pay top dollar in the trade market. |
