yeah i agree with you 10-6, but i think our window will be closed in 2-4 years when our O line is officially old . . . if we are to make a run at a SB i really think its '09 maybe '10 . . .after that we can hopefully rebuild around campbell and stock up again but it will be with a different RB, diff OL and moss might not be the game changer he is now and will be for the next 3 plus years!!

speaking of moss, i love how he can separate from defenders and create space . . . coles had great hands ala cooley but he couldnt make plays on his own like santana!!!

wish we had taken a shot with cosby but well see what happens . . .

The best thing that happend in the draft for the Redskins is that they didn't trade any of next years picks away. I am thrilled about that. I wish that they would have picked the kicker from Colorado though.

Does anyone know the status of Cory Redding? I say we trade next years 1st and Shawn Springs for Redding and a 3rd rounder. Apparently Redding doesn't want to be in Detroit anymore (who does) and has the ability to play DT and DE.

If Landry turns out well, this is a successful draft, IMO. It's hard to do much on the second day.

And just maybe the FO has learned the value of keeping draft picks. That would be something good to come out of all this.

Good point!! I was actually thinking the same thing seeing how limited we were in this draft as a result of recklessly ridding ourselves of picks in the most important rounds. Take a look at our draft picks as opposed to our division opponents:

Dallas had picks in: 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th/-2 in the 6th-2 in the 7th
NYG had picks in: 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th/6th/-2-in the 7th
Philly had picks in: 1st/2nd/3rd/5th/6th/7th
Wash. had picks in: 1st/5th/-2 in the 6th/7th

It would be great if next year our draft line looks like line one.

If landry pans out this draft is salvageable, but the point was that we f-ed up by trading away our day 1 picks and there is no getting by that. there was a lotta talent out there this year that we didn't capitalize on. The draft could have been a success if we could have wheeled and dealed our way back into the 2nd or 3rd round. Hopefully though, we have what we need without the draft, maybe a signing of a DL or two after june 1st

There are two strategies. Draft the best player available (likely will make the team, play, and have trade value). Draft for pressing need and 'put all of your eggs into one basket'.

I don't put much stock in this season unless we do some massive trading for some younger defensive linemen via a trade with Springs/McIntosh, both of them or with Marshall in the mix. Who knows. If our D stinks agains we will suck and finsh 2nd-3rd in our division and miss the wildcard. Also we will get to see JC play an entire season and see if he is the real deal or was a stud at Auburn becasue he had 2 star RB's.

This is by far the WORST draft that the Washington Redskins have had for years. It's been five years that the Skins have needed to upgrade the defensive line and every year they avoid addressing this glaring weakness. What happened to drafting for need? The biggest need on this team is not safety. It's not quarterback. It's not linebacker. It's not tight end. They needed a defensive end, BAD! They needed depth at offensive line, BAD! Marcus Washington's injury must be pretty bad to go out and trade for London Fletcher and then draft two linebackers. What's the direction on this team? I think Snyder, Gibbs and Williams have lost f$%king their minds.

Id be encouraged that Synder didnt tap into next years draft. He could have swapped spots with Detroit and given up next years draft to go after Calvin Johnson

Johnson is a ridiculous talent, but the mortgaging of your teams future had to stop sometime.

Fletcher isn't replacing Washington, he's replacing Marshall in the middle.

I disagree, I think that honor goes to 2002. Here are the Skins drafts from 2001 to 2006 with my comments. Players still on the team are in bold, Players still in the league (that I know of) but not with us are in italic:

Sorry, but this is my pick for worst draft of the 2000's. Other than Betts, Royal and Cartwright did any of these players stick around more than a year or , two. Oddly enough, this is the draft where we made all the right moves (trading down TWICE in the first round to get additional 3rd round picks (which turned into Bauman and Russell). For the number of picks we had this year we should have gotten at least two, if not three, solid starters who are still with the team. To garner just two back-ups (yes – Betts is the backup) is pretty bad.

My vote for BEST draft of the 2000's and conversely the one in which we had the second fewest picks.

Again, given the number of picks, not a particularly prosperous draft. Two years later it looks like only the top two picks are gonna be around. Still if JC pans out, this will be good draft.

5(153) [B]A. Montgomery[/B]DT Seems to be solid servicable D-Lineman
6(173) [B]R. Doughty[/B] FS Slow and lost rookie season- might
have been too big a step for the small
school guy. Give him another year.
6(196) [B]K. Golston[/B] DT He's a keeper
7(230) [B]K. Lefotu[/B] G I think this guy may yet develop. They
keep him hanging around.
7(250) Kevin Simon LB Out of football (?)

I think a lot depends on how Rocky works out – given that we traded away this year's picks for him, I think he can make this into a great draft or a so-so one. Both D-Linemen seem to be keepers and Lefotu seems like a good developmental guy. The only complete whiff was Simon.

I don't see any of them standing out particularly and I think the 2005 and 2006 drafts could easily switch in a year or two. By my count, we have 13 players currently on OUR roster from these six drafts. I don't know how that stacks up against the NFL average for the same period of time.
