When his employees vote for a Socialist Marxist Tyrant who collects a 90% tax on his business income that's fine too. All battles are won and lost in the ballot box, conservatives and liberals need to stop their insipid whining and go win in the f*cking ballot box battles.

p.s. Don't worry conservatives, you don't have to do shit for anybody and I don't expect you to but I will be damned if I don't vote.
That's stupid, and an overstatement.

CEOS earn alot of money, but without the hard work of their workers in their corporation they get nothing. Without the share holders, they get nothing. People get angry when a CEO takes his check and stiffs his workes and the share holders, then floats off with a golden parachute. Things have devolved to the point it's hurting the country. The goal is no longer productivity or a strong America, but a big bonus. After a bonus of several million who cares what happens next. Outsource jobs overseas and take your big bonus. Who cares if that hurts America. So when democracy kicks in (which keeps our capitalist system from becoming pure capitalism or "feudalism") no complaining. No American is guarateed a job and no bounas shall go untaxed. People pretend they made that money all by themselves in a vacuum. This is not a vacuum but a democracy. Elections will come again soon, and the will of the peopl will be revealed.

Some seem to be running wild with what I said so I want to clarify. I was simply referring to the differing views that the left/right has when it comes to social issues and programs such as welfare, national healthcare, etc.

I certainly was not trying to say everyone on the right is selfish and everyone on the left is generous. Just saying there are fundamental differences in the way both sides approach these social issues.
Why is it stupid and an overstatement?
By saying "don't worry conservatives, you don't have to do shit for anybody," aren't you saying that conservatives "worry" about having to help people? That's what I took from it. If so, I find that a stupid overstatement. By overstatement I guess mean big exaggeration. Or maybe mis-statement is better wording.

and in 10 years when we revisit this we will start with:

ObamaCare - episode 1: the Phantom HC menace
episode 2: Attack of the PC clone wars (pc=politically correct)
episode 3: Revenge of the sick

and obviously this threads title will have to be changed to -

So I am quoting myself with the plea to maybe close this and if necessary open a follow up. This one has run its course...
Do you not you feel a certain level of responsibility for your employees or is it all about everyone for themselves?
I can't speak for FD, but he wouldn't have employees with him for over 10 yrs. if he wasn't a good boss. I think most small business owners do have compassion for their employees, however at the end of the day as a business owner it's your second mortgage, or savings account, or whatever you used to acquire or build the business that's on the line every day. The business owner (and the 60 hr. + work weeks) is the ultimate factor in determining if the business suceeds of fails. If an employee decides not to show up for work you get it covered and move on. If a machine or part necessary to run your business fails you get it fixed and move on. All that comes out of profit.

As I said before, the employees won't take a pay cut when the economy goes bad, they won't cover the rent, they won't pay to fix a broken part...and they shouldn't. Their obligation to the business is to be there when they're supposed to be and put in good effort while "on the clock".

If the business fails, they go get another job. The business owner is the one that must declare bankruptcy or face years in rebuilding what he/she has lost.

That being said, there is a HUGE difference between small business and large, publicly held corporations controlled by boards. The shennanigans that go on at that level are a problem and are similar to what goes on with gov't. People on those boards are making decisions to benefit themselves using other people's money (shareholders).
I mean this is basically the fundamental difference between the left and right. The right is generally more self concerned and the left is generally more willing to give for the greater good of everyone else.
I do agree with your point, but with a clarification for what I think. Folks who are more conservative believe more in self-determination and responsibility and don't normally have or expect a safety net from someone else (gov't), hence that makes them more self-concerned. Folks on the left have a more collective approach and hence believe gov't has the responsibility to provide things. I think both sides have compassion, the difference is the right believes it is their choice to be compassionate the left believes gov't should decide because many won't do it on their own.

The site has a link to print off a form which CRedskinsRule posted. The form is actually missing a slot for people who just want to donate any amount of money. If you want to donate something just write in an amount and you can donate in your name or how ever you want. We pride ourself in the fact that 100% of what we raise goes to the children to buy hearing aids and speech equipment. Most of the speech equipment is stuff we by that goes to the school system and we also purchase around 8 sets of hearing aids for children each year. Those things are not cheap and run around $3800 a set.

Yes, we will have plenty of cold beer I think either $2.50 or $3.00 a cup. We also have a Corn Hole competition which for some reason the sign up sheet is not provided on the site but I can get you that info. Tickets are $5.00 per family or per person. That gets you in and a chance to go around and sample all the chilli and vote for them. We also have a live band, childrens tent with stuff for them to do, and a lrge slide for the kids. For other food which is my gig we have hot dogs or brats, chips and a drink for $4.00. We will have chilli for sale at our tent until it runs out.

Thats funny because I'm kind of the donation cop. Our goal is to help kids who's parents really do not have the money to buy hearing aids but people will try to get free money when they could buy them on their own. We get alot of referals from doctors working with kids who know the situation and the childs needs and we only give the checks to the equipment provider. No we do not have a way to take electronic payment. Sorry.

Why not use Paypal or something? Shame to not take money because nobody put in a few minutes to make it possible.

If you vouch for them I'll donate and even get my company to match the donation. I called George Fischer to get the Club's EIN (Employer Identification Number) but he didn't pick-up. If you know what it is let me know cause I need that to get a match from my company.

Most of our donations are from companies and they write checks but no one thought about smaller donations from individuals. We talked about opening up paypal account for ticket sales but for some reason we decided not to do that. This is only our third year for this event so I'll add that to my list of things for next year. We do a golf outing also which pretty much runs itself and this event is still in its building stages so we are still learning.

Open up that paypal account, it doesn't cost anything and there doesn't always need to be an event to accept money you know?

This is the only web site we have. Our golf event is over 20 yrs old and it fills up pretty quick so no advertising is needed. That event alone raises around 16,000 to 18,000. Its probably a good idea for the club to have its own web page and we could just have out event stuff there and have a place where people could donate through paypal. It would make alot of sense to have one centeral site for everything. The best pert about that is I know no one would ask me to run that or have anything do do with a web page. My computers skills are about as good as my spelling.

TTE has been eerily quiet lately. I want some more, "We don't need no stinkin government" posts!

I really could give a shitless about this reform and the people sending death threats to their representatives (both democrat and republican) they all really need to be put in a burlap bag, beaten and sent out to sea. Yeah, that's harsh but still, even if you think the reform is the end of freedom as we know it, do you really think its worth calling up your representative and telling them how you wish someone would blow up their office? Really?

But all I care about is that at 23 and currently uninsured, I get to hop back on my mom's insurance for another 3 years. :woot:

What's funnier is they talk about soda in schools. I can't vouch for all schools but the high schools in Stafford VA do have soda machines that are turned off during the day time so kids don't have access to them. I know the Federal Gov. has commented in regards to this and I thought all schools in VA can't sell soda to kids during school hours. I don't have a problem with this.

What I find funny is take all the soda machines out of the school completely and you will see the kids bringing them with them. They already are bringing the Amp, and Monster drinks with them. I see kids packing soda cans in their lunches they bring. It may be cold but it beats water, milk and juice.

How about the Feds just make sure the law is not broken and stay out of my health care and religion? Oh religion. I can't wait till the Feds start takling that issue.
