Try it out in preseason...see how it goes. Apparently Brady likes lower pressure, manning likes more than the league allows...let em'. They're apparently doing it anyway...Panthers Vikes heating balls during the game

The NFL has uniform police, I think they can handle hiring people to monitor the balls. Not a big deal.
they probably did cheat. just seems like the MO, and it's not like this is the first or second time these guys have been caught doing something shady. how much of an advantage did it give them? who knows. probably not as much as taping jets practices or whatnot. Not really too broken up or concerned about it, even though maybe I should be? I guess the Pats are going to end up with a league sanctioned inflation monitor now, which would honestly be pretty funny.

sad the boys got collins. that's a good player i would have liked to have (talent wise at least). we could have spent a 7th to secure his rights and make sure no one else could sign him.

still a bit of a bad precedent to skip the draft and then immediately sign a (presumably) big money contract relative to to everyone else that waited in line for their turn.
I think there is a maximum that an undrafted free agent can sign for. His contract his for 3 years, 1.25 million total... As opposed to a first round pick from last year's draft Ja'Wuan James who got a 4 year deal, 8.4 million dollar deal.

Re: All things off season 2015.

Regarding the Redskins drafting Collins late, perhaps the idea was dismissed because the Redskins are trying to lay the groundwork for a new culture in the locker room and any potential soap opera is unwelcome at this time. Perhaps they would have been more willing to take a chance on him a couple of years down the line when that team culture is well-established.

Do not add more big brother crap to the NFL.
Ball police? Puleeeeze.....
Let them inflate the ball in what ever way they want.
If it puts more points on the board its good for the fans.
This is a game, not a bureaucracy FFS.

Doesn't MLB monitor the baseballs now? Seems like a no brainer the NFL should too.

Not surprising. The military advertises just like anyone else. Should we expect the league to just turn down the $$?

"But what makes this sort of thing so disingenuous is that fans assume NFL teams are thanking soldiers out of genuine appreciation for their service. In these cases, they were getting paid for it: it was advertising, disguised as gratitude. It's a lot like a news outlet running an ad as an article without any sort of disclaimer."

So these teams were happy to let their fans think they were "good guys" by not acknowledging that these tributes were paid advertising? Nice.

Was thinking the same thing. Was a freak injury. Could have been anyone - anytime - anywhere. Its not like he has weak ACL's or it was his predetermined fate to tear it. Lol

I think you are reading WAAAAAAY too much into what I said. I realize injuries can happen anytime/anyplace and to anyone. No I don't think it would have necessarily happened if he was with us. Just sayin...

From ESPNs article about Fowler :

"Unsigned draft choices participating in minicamp sign an injury protection waiver. If there is an injury, the team will continue to negotiate in good faith as if the player were not injured."

If they didn't, it could backfire on the team. That player could just re-enter the draft the following year since he was drafted and didn't sign a contract.

Scot M. went to a Washington Capitals playoff game where he met Bryce Harper. He was asked by a reporter to scout Harper as a football player. Here's what he said:

"McCloughan is also a scout by nature and knows how to evaluate talent. He was asked what position Harper would play on the football field and his answer was just great:

“Ehhhhh, probably strong safety. But, I went to a game a couple weeks ago, and he flipped his hips and caught a fly ball out in right field in the corner, and I thought, maybe [cornerback]. But I’m thinking, uhh, okay, no, he’s gotta be a safety. He’s a white guy.”

Im a little surprised by the cut and I agree with you. Arrington at the minimum is better than both Amerson and Porter. I would give him a look for sure, he would provide excellent depth.
