The Eagle's fan in JR's quote said exactly what I was thinking, between their big name signings, handling of Reid at the end, and now signing Spurr... Kelly. They may lay claim to the basement for the next several years! (i can only hope)

Eagles defense is loaded with bad, overrated players, many with bloated contracts. Kelly may put together a better offense, but their defense is garbage. The funny thing is they have major problems on the Oline and the QB as well and thats where Kelly will be expected to improve the team immediately. So he will be pressured right away for results on offense, so let's see it Chip. I personally dont believe he can, but if he is this must of a genius results should show right away.

Yeah, from a business standpoint, he played it perfectly. I am just more of a "let your yes mean yes and your no mean no" type person. i dont think i'd feel right doing what he did - but of course, I don't have the talents to ever be in that situation so who knows what i'd do lol.
If you mean hes a genius at being a charlatan, youre right. None of the QBs you mentioned are particularly impressive either, but thats just me. Saying everywhere he goes is a success is also ridiculous.... winning a college bowl game - lol... if thats an important accomplishment, then that would make about 500 guys out there qualified to be head coaches in your opinion.

He has a 1 in 8 chance of winning every year. Jim Zorn would probably win it a few times, too. The fact that he's done so twice is not remotely meaningful in the context of being an NFL head coach. Thanks to Lovie Smith, the Bears are already a great football team.

I expect them to start out fairly hot, just like Zorn did when taking over for Gibbs. Within a year or two, the Lovie-effect will wear off, the Bears will decline, and Trestman will be out.
You dont think Kosar, Plummer, and Gannon were impressive qb's. ? Ok fine, Scott Mitchell certainly isnt but look at what he did when Trestman was there. Its night and day. Look at what all of them did when Trestman was in town. its not important about your opinion of the qb's overall success but your opinion of how the quarterbacks played while he was there. You cant deny those numbers, wins, and career years under his watch. Bears offense will be explosive next year - watch.
As for bowl games - its NC State. They arent exactly a great team, but while he was there they had one of their better years. Not sure why you think its ridiculous to say everyehere he has gone hes had success? His footprints are all over winning teams in three different leagues even if one was the CFL. He shows up and its instant offense. The proof is in the pudding. Show me somewhere his offense didnt light it up as an OC or somewhere his qb didnt do the same while he was a QB coach?
I think Trestman is one of the better offensive minds pro football has seen in the last three decades. It's a shame he's never got his opportunity to be a HC. I'm rooting for him big time.
Im with you all the way. I hope this guy is a huge success, except when he plays the Skins of course.

Eagles are either going to implode or start a new set of trends for offense in the NFL.

Generally college coaches that don't have any NFL experience. Don't work

Hey SS, is Haslett here next year? Any rumblings from FO about Morris interviewing?

Does anybody think Morris got credit for the defensive turn around the second half? Somethings changed where we played better D and it was noticeable in the secondary...I think you have to give some credit there, Id like Morris to hang around, even more so than Haslett at this point.

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel

Haslett probably stays. Think Rah definitely deserves credit. I don't think Cleveland will be his only interview
