Re: Around the league divisional weekend
Kaepernick has been running that offense his whole career at Nevada where the pistol started. He had over 4100 yards rushing w/59 TD and 82 TD's in the air. Skins are the imitators.
Sure - and, once Harbaugh saw how effective it was, he substituted CK for A. Smith. I don't think that happens if the pistol were getting blown up week in and week out. Skins imitated the college game and effectively brought it to the pro level. It's making that leap that was KS & MS's innovation. We have seen first hand that an effective college scheme (i.e. the "Fun'n Gun") doesn't necessarily translate to the pros. |
Re: Around the league divisional weekend
I was thrilled to see the Seahawks lose -- trash-talking, classless jerks that they are. And I cannot decide whether losing in the heartbreaking fashion that they did or getting entirely stomped would have been better, but regardless, I was pleased the Falcons didn't choke. The Seahawks have been a complte thorn in our side for ages now. It doesn't bother me as much when a really good team plays well and beats us but seems to respect us as an adversary. But the cheap stuff that occurred throughout the wild card game, coupled with the trash talking beforehand really irked me. I am hoping that they have a massive sophmore slump with Wilson under center next year and start in-fighting. (Unfortunately, that probably won't happen -- to the contrary, they looks scary good right now.)
To me, i almost take pride in the team beating us winning the superbowl. It makes the skins look better, as opposed to losing to a team that gets trounced the next week. Plus, i dont want Carlos Rogers to ever win a superbowl. I want him to regret leaving here and saying derogatory things about the Redskins.
Also, Im an NC state fan and have always liked Wilson. I love watching games where the seahawks play at home. The atmosphere always makes the games exciting and compelling. The seahawks are not my 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th favorite NFL team, but i like them a heck of alot better than the falcons. Sports arent particularly interesting to watch unless I have some kind of rooting interest in a team, so that makes the upcoming games horribly uninteresting to me.
That's fine when the team that beats you was clearly the better team, however the Seahawks were just the healthier team. |
Re: Around the league divisional weekend
The Redskins were the first this year to really use it with success on the NFL level, we're not talking about comparing colleges.
I remember the Chiefs ran some of it with Thigpen under Herm Edwards |
Re: Around the league divisional weekend
So, be honest. Are any of you guys just a least bit jealous over the fact that the 49ers are utilizing Colin kaepernick in much the same way the Redskins used Griffin III this year with the option and doing it with the same success? I could just picture Robert slicing through Green Bay's defense the same way Colin kaepernick did on Saturday night.
I am convinced that if RG3 had been healthy going into the playoffs the Skins would have gone to the Super Bowl. |
Re: Around the league divisional weekend
Agree, Kyle S. & RG3 got the ball rolling with the read option and pistol at this level. Everyone said a "college" style offense couldn't work in the NFL, they proved it could with the right QB. Other teams have since added it to their offense, we started off with it as our base offense.
I think people were not expecting QBs that can run and pass like RG3. |
Re: Around the league divisional weekend
That Falcons game was a real sham. I actually felt bad for the Seahawks and I hate the Seahawks. Felt like I just watched a horrible 4 hour movie, I feel stupid.
Domes should be banned. I hate dome ball. |

I disagree. SF is the best team in the NFC and maybe in the NFL. |
Re: Around the league divisional weekend
We would have beat Seattle with a healthy RG3, in all likelihood. Let's just start there.

Well that's debatable but it sure looked that way at 14-0. But SF and Seattle are two teams in the NFC that are young, and have the same type of QB that we do, and they paid a lot less to get them. The NFC is loaded for years to come. |
Skins started the Read Option and now SF and Sea had to steal it. And they r getting all the praise for it smh

Definitely. I mean, a healthy RG would have continued the onslaught beyond the 1st quarter. |
Re: Around the league divisional weekend
Kaepernick wasn't starting till game 9, they were doing it during pre-season games (vanilla version).
Exactly the point. If Harbaugh wanted to go full out with it, he would have moved to it from preseason. But he didn't. Then the Skins started showing success, and when Smith had the concusssion Harbaugh took the opportunity to implement it. |

Do you think Smith would be able to pull it off? Harbaugh knew what he had in Kaepernick, i saw it run during their pre-season games with Kaep (vanilla version). So did Bill Walsh invent the WCO? No, Paul Brown did. Same shit, who cares.
