95% of the team also realize that if Shanahan gets fired, they probably will be looking for somewhere else to work. There is a reason why you rarely ever hear players speak out against coaches, even if they are failing. Also London was quoted as saying this about RG3, just so you know “This is a great young leader, man,” Fletcher said. “Sometimes, I don’t think people really appreciate how great this kid is because, I know, last year he stepped on the scene and he did so much stuff. He was asked to be a savior of a franchise that hadn’t had a franchise quarterback in 20 some-odd years. He came in and you talk about giving up all the draft picks and all the things they did to bring him in, and he handled the expectations and even exceeded those. He carried himself in a manner that’s very rare [for] young guys [to] do. He has great leadership qualities.” |
Bill O'Brien: Potential to be great, but I think you have to be patient with him
GWilliams: Could very easily see him returning, but as a DC Grimm: Don't see that either
Snyder needs to recruit a strong coaching staff around him. Bringing in GWilliams as DC, Grimm as Assistant HC/ Oline. Hue Jackson WR coach. |
Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
Let the new HC assemble his staff.
Snyder should have nothing to do with it. |

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
I think suggestions can be made, I don't want another Zorn or Spurrier situation. Some veteran staff members will help O'Brien transition into the role.

At the 35 minute mark JLC talks about Briles and the possibilities for him as the coach.. I'm still not sold on him being the best decision based on the issues it may cause but if he stacks his staff with NFL vets and has a strong DC and front office guy, I could get behind it.
I'm mildly concerned about if/how his offense will translate but maybe GTripp or someone can speak to that.. |

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
I would prefer Briles (if he's hired) as an OC, with a defensive guru and someone familiar with the Redskins as HC, like G Williams. I think Briles could easily be overwhelmed, and besides what's he done to deserve an HC opportunity coming from college?

I agree with you. Too many people want to get rid of Shanahan and replace him with an unproven guy. You cant bring in someone like Briles unless you also have an extremely strong GM in place. We're talking so much about who the next HC will be, but obviously, the GM needs to in place first. Chris Russell thinks Allen will be promoted to Team President, and that he and Snyder will hire a GM, and theyll all pick a head coach. Some say Snyder shouldnt be involved in the decision, but he obviously needs to be if its a college coach. Most of them have contracts which would have to be bought out. Right now, its likely Snyders going to have to buy out over 10MM in contracts from the current coaching staff... asking him to buy out another 10MM for college coaches might be a bit much. |
Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
The days of retreads and college coaches with no NFL experience are over. Shaw and O'Brien are the exception here with proven track records. This team someone like those 2 or some hungry assistant like Bevell, Bowles, Gruden, Whisenhunt.

Baylor didn't even have uniforms when Briles got there. He's made them a threat in the BCS for a few years now. Also, add in the fact that Briles has done it with less than HALF the recruiting results of the other big schools in the country. So he's taking players who are average standard and making a competitive football team and one of the top ones in the nation. |
Sure I do. I'd get rid of The diva quarterback and keep the hall of game coach.
Which game specifically got him into that hall? |

Who said he's picking him? You have a link? Just because it was his college coach? You read in to the blurred lines to much. Briles deserves his shot on his performance alone. So, I guess any player who's played football for a college coach isn't allowed to be united with a college coach because it's his say? You really think Snyder is going to allow RG3 who is on the bench right now make a 40 million dollar decision for him? Let's be real. Briles comes in.. We win football games. You won't hear anything about how RG3 picked his coach. Just saying. I still can't believe that people believe all the leaks that Shanahan has put out there on RG3 and Snyder to protect himself. lol RG3 a Diva? You try doing a interview process every Weds, and camera's following you around 24/7. I'm sure some of your mistakes will be BLOWN out of the water. |
