Trade Rak for a 3rd round pick? Madness.
I agree. But it's better than nothing, which is what we'll likely end up with if Rak's agent is smart and/or the FO doesn't want to shell out a massive contract after this year. Hasn't SS indicated at times the FO isn't too high on Rak and/or he (SS) won't be surprised if Rak doesn't get re-signed? |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
If Rak has another 10 sack season, chances are good he'll be around for a while.
The cap won't be an issue next year. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Stevie Brown from the Giants. He's a safety and is a RFA with a 2nd round tender. Had 8 picks last season. Why not get him if you are BA AND MS?
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Prior to last year Stevie Brown was unproven and cut from three teams prior to landing in NY, and getting a shot due to injury. He was a seventh round draft pick in 2010 and has done nothing till last year.
I say keep our 2nd round pick and pick from the vast amount of talent in the draft. If he has a good year this year and you don't find anyone this year then we have the money to sign him to a contract. I am sure this is why the Giants didn't sign him to a long term deal this year. So we don't need him now and more importantly he would cost us to much of our very limited resources this year. Meaning the risk involved does vastly out weigh the players value. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
yeah, keep our picks, try to find a corner with the 2nd.
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
He also signed his tendered RFA contract so it really doesn't matter.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
At this point you got believe F. Davis is coming back to us. He is probably in a bit of denial as far as his worth.
If ClE looked at him and they have a ton of cap space they easily could have given him the paid day he wants. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I just saw that FDavis is represented by Rosenhaus. You would think that is a good thing, Snyder and Rosenhaus have always had a good working relationship (of course everything's good when the money is flowing)

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
oh boy oh boy oh boy! a CB signing.
(no not Colt) (and not yet) Rich Campbell @Rich_Campbell 56s Shanahan: Redskins will sign a DB later today, one they have "targeted." (or maybe yet?) Grant Paulsen @granthpaulsen 1m Mike Shanahan says the #Redskins have signed one of the DB's they targeted in free agency. It will be announced later on today. |

I'm guessing it will be a nickel CB, not a starter.

I'm guessing its D. Hall.

Knowing their stupid idea of PR, that is the first thing I thought also. |

I think it will be somebody none of us would care about in a normal offseason.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I know they are trying to avoid too much dead cap space for future years, but is anyone else surprised by the lack of a couple key restructures(ie Williams, Coefield, Bowen)?
Also like the signing of Biggers especially knowing that we don't have the cap space to have made it a ridiculous contract like it might have been years past. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
He's a slight upgrade from Hall, for hopefully alot less money.

I know he is younger and that his stats aren't up to D Halls in terms of PD and Int. |

The skins have said they'll execute restructures as needed to sign players. Theres no reason to restructure players now and free up cap space until we actually need to sign someone. |

that is a big key this year. DHall at 8M, or anywhere near that wasn't worth it, but if we get even similar production at a more reasonable cost, I assume that's a win this year. |

Makes sense, I'm guessing we might see such moves maybe after the draft depending on what holes still remain depending on who is still available on the market. |

Not at all. His coverage abilities are comparable to Hall's (i.e. not good) and he's a risk-taker like Hall. Hall just succeeds more often. Hall also already has familiarity with our team and system. But i would imagine he was much cheaper to resign than Hall would be. Personally, i dont think theres much of a market for Hall and if we waited long enough, we probably could have gotten him back at a comparable price. |

We'll definitely have to clear space to sign our draft picks, UDFAs, and have room to spare to sign players when our own guys inevitably get hurt. All the major restructures we anticipate happening will still happen - with the cap penalty, we dont really have a choice - its just a matter of when. |

maybe we can have both if there is no market for Hall. |

i think that is the plan, wait it out on hall and try to bring him back...

But the Bears (and Cutler) are on the schedule. We NEED Hall. |
