The Redskins have all of the power. I do not understand why we are worried. He is not going to SF this year or next year, without receiving 2 first round picks and a second. Anybody that says different is foolish.
1. He signs the tag and makes 24 million. If he doesn't sign it, he doesn't get paid. 2. He signs a long term deal by July 15th or he doesn't. If he doesn't he doesn't play and sits on the practice squad like the last QB to leave town. This basically ruins his market value next year. 3. We have a veteran QB that can win 4 - 8 games and is willing to be a bridge QB. 4. If the agent tries to play both sides, they let him know we can tag Kirk next year as well.
Kyle has a six year contract, he can be patient. And if the 49ers stink in 2017 they can draft a good QB in the 2018 draft. Then pay him much less money and keep all their picks. Keeping KC on the franchise tag in 2017 with less weapons can only hurt his value. The only good option is a trade before the draft. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Keim was on the radio about an hour ago. I think he said Kyle and KC have the same agent..... if true, it is a game of chicken, do the Redskins settle for a 2nd/3rd round pick, or play hard ball and try to get a first round pick plus ? SF could hope KC would be a true free agent in 2018....Washington should threaten to franchise KC again if SF low balls them.
Washington cannot let KC go and get nothing
Why not use the transition tag next year and match best offer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I agree, Redskins have more leverage than it seems. I would not rule out the possibility of tagging him at 34M. They may save themselves enough cap space to be capable of it.
Why not transition tag and then match offer to retain? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Why not transition tag and then match offer to retain?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
good point, Keim who follows this for a living seems to think KC could be gone in 2018 and the Redskins get nothing. KC wants to leave and apparently has no interest in a signing a long term contract in DC, so trade him. I think they need to trade him now. There are plenty of teams that need a QB and apparently not many good ones in the draft. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
When you see multiple sources coming out saying "Kirk wants out", it isn't just bull shit. You can fight it all u want, Kirk will not be a Redskin much longer. I have already excepted it and want the 2nd pick already.
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Ok. So has Kiem or any of our local reporters backed up Wyche's claim? Are the sources people who actually in on these conversations? Is it the chef or waiters at Redskins Park hearing 25% of a conversation?
The fact we want to build the defense and use our oline as a force that it can be in the running game is not news if Cousins signs here or is traded. You know what guys, fuck it we drafted the next Tom Brady last year in 6th round pick Nate Sudfield. Who knows we may be on the cusp of 7 Super Bowl appearances and 4 new shiny lombardies?😂🙌 |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Who the hell is Sam Wyche? He is another nobody that knows nothing about what is going on inside the building.
Did I tell you I spoke to someone at Redskins park last fall? Does that make me a legitimate source?
Uh he works for NFLN, I know he's not a local reporter but I'm sure NFLN does some vetting before they say a bunch of shit. Do you really think NFLN wants to be lumped in with the Bleacher Reports of the sports world? This is the network that represents the NFL. As for all the reports, idk what to believe anymore. But I'm preparing myself mentally for his departure, for all we know he's watching the shitshow in the front office and asking himself why he would want to stay with Cleveland East when he could go to SF and reunite with the guy who believed in him all along. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
SF has had top 3 picks the last couple of years right near Cleveland. We have picked 17/22.
So anyway Jac CLE east then we are. So CLE west is his choice. Good luck |

Your numbers are way off. His tag for 2017 is $24m. |

you have the numbers wrong, his tag this year is 24M, next year's is 32M still a crazy number, but ARodgers will get that at his next signing, and if KC were to prove himself next year, by winning at least 1 playoff game and keeping his INT's down, he would get it too. |

If KC had won that Giants game and gotten to the playoffs (and maybe win a playoff game?) he probably would have gotten the money that he wants. Aaron Rodgers was a in a similar situation as KC (no running game/poor defense) and pretty much carried the team on his back to the playoffs. He can play under the tag this year or San Francisco can have him for that #2 overall pick. But I don't think KC needs to be the highest paid QB. |

Yes the team struggles for the year were not solely on him, but for good or bad there are games and moments that define a QB's value, and the show that was put on that game simply was not a contract sealing show. |

Who's excited for the upcoming Colt McCoy vs. Nate Sudfeld qb battle??

we will either play with KC for the year, or get a shiny new qb in the draft. Likely we will get a shiny new qb either way. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
This is pretty damning. Mort is an extremely credible source.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
My question with Cousins is this, does Gruden want Cousins as his QB for the future? Can we answer that?
My question with Cousins is this, does Gruden want Cousins as his QB for the future? Can we answer that?
This is a great question. But ultimately irrelevant. I think it's clear that if Cousins is asking the owner for a trade, and I fully believe Mort, then it doesn't matter how much Jay wants him or how much we offer in a long term deal. Because Cousins won't sign it. Coming to terms with the notion that trading him is the only option. I'm fearful Snyder won't do it, out of spite to Kyle, and Kirk will walk next year or the year after, for nothing but a compensatory 3rd rounder. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
It's time to get what we can in a trade to SF.

I know it hurts. But let the dude go and get the value now while you can. He's freakin telling you he doesn't want to be here. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Trade the man for either the #2 pic or multiple lower pics. Trubisky might be a
Skin. Watson might be as well, if we get the #2. Snyder is an idiot. He blew it all up!!! |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Told y'all when he went to the falcons game. He was done here that moment. O well screw Kirk I hope he blows in SF. We'll trade for AJ Mcarron just watch

true, but they need to find another team interested, or SF will steal him |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Trade him to Rams for Goff.....and Gurely
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Trade shoulda been done. This report matches earlier speculation. This is being mishandled by Bruce/Jay since day 1
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Cousins is a whiny little bitch. I almost want to franchise him next year for spite. STFU Kirk, you're on the Redskins. Deal with it.
Note - I know spite doesn't work when the spitee gets another 32 million. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
A trade or a trade to Frisco specifically?
There are 4 or 5 other teams out there that need a starting QB. If we are listening to all offers there is no doubt this will take a while. Cousins hasnt signed his tender yet. I would expect an announcement after that. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Snyder made his bed, now sleep in it. This is getting old and fans are not going to be all excited for 2017. Getting new faces isn't going to do it anymore Dan, but then again it is DC, where reality seems to be forbidden most of the time.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
We need a new KC thread we have reached that limit where the last post button doesn't work. that problem has haunted this web site forever.
Maybe we call it Kirk Cousins 730 thread or go the Xbox route and trick everyone and call it Kirk Cousins One. Either way we need a new thread. =) |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
pierre asked for a trade, now kirk asks for a trade, and scot is out the door.
nothing attracts valuable free agents or motivates your own free agents to re-sign more than watching the stars of your team request their own departures... we're going to get hosed in any trade involving cousins, no leverage. it is growing harder and harder to continue to root for this team. |

|
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Bruce Allen is a snake in the grass. Ask yourselves why Kirk doesn't want to play for this franchise. The whole handling of Cousins to SM has been a dumpster fire. If you're siding with the company line, this organization can do no wrong.
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Kirk is merely playing the only card he has to get the team to up their offer on a long term deal.

Fuck Kirk and fuck Bruce. Your Pro-Bowl qb is going to get traded for peanuts at best because you weren't willing to pay him. And fuck Kirk for taking this so personally. Jay Gruden was always in his corner but apparently that isn't good enough. And fuck Snyder by extension for overseeing this entire shitshow. If Snyder had fired Bruce with Shanahan we wouldn't have this mess. |

with who ? I doubt he wants to be in dysfunctional DC..... weapons gone, no stability, no running game, no defense.... SF looks like a better option |
