You haven't posted a lot but been here for awhile you probably know that two years ago you would be hard pressed to find someone say it was time to move on. I think most of us would have been more than okay with keeping the name but at this point just want the band aid ripped off.

I am not talking about wearing the gear, I have lots of jerseys and gear I will wear. I am talking about actively rejecting whatever the new team name and brand will be. I am talking about complaining about the woke instead of supporting the team in its current and future form. Obviously, the jerseys and legacy of the Redskins will always be a part of the team history. This isn't Cleveland becoming the Ravens or Colts moving to Indy. Our team's history is an awesome story and the SB's will stand etched with the Redskins name forever.

Saying someone is wearing a Redskins jersey to honor Native Americans is as ludicrous as the woke statement that Redskins was a slur against them. The Redskins were a football team, changed from the Braves when they moved to Washington. The whole sanctimonious claptrap is just ridiculous.

I’ve been a loyal fan since I was 10 in 1982. Nobody is erasing the history of this team, it’s all still there, it happened. But times change and here we are facing a new era. I’m excited about the future and will always be proud of the past.

The caveman reference is more about the fans that aren’t going to accept the change under any circumstance.

I totally understand peoples emotional connection to the team and it’s past glory. It’s part of fandom, their childhood…it’s nostalgic and makes them feel good. I understand how it can feel like some of that is being taken away. I get that perspective and I’m fine with it. Where your skins stuff, wave the redskins banner, shit, sing HTTR loud and proud

But I also totally understand and accept things change and the team has moved on. The team has been terrible for 20 years…it’s time for something new. Change name and let’s get it on. Younger generation don’t remember the past glory so maybe it’s time to start a new legacy? I understand that as well.

I think both sides should accept both views and just respect it. Neither is incorrect

The fact of that matter is Indians/Native Americans/Indigenous Peoples are viewed as ... Cool.

The look, the folklore, the myths- it all fascinates us. The examples are endless and not restricted to the dwindling number of team names. And it's not just us. A good chunk of the world shares this fascination.

At first I thought the ideal change would be something that kept the NA theme (warriors etc) .. then the team says it wants nothing to do with any NA theme .. but the colors are okay , I’m good with that in fact I’ll be glad when the Whole NA thing just goes away .. it’s like breaking up with your girlfriend and she just wants to be friends … yea right it’s best just to go in opposite directions.. I hope that is what happens.. The Whole WFT name was us a tongue and cheek slap in the face to all that pushed the change .. it least that’s my opinion.. I sorta kinda like the Wolf idea ( kinda seems forced) .. I like the Washington Monuments , Washington Freedom, something patriotic .. enough with the animal thing .. I can better that I have a Chase Young Redskin Jersey (Not a Pirate or custom job either). The last 1st round pick of the Redskins should be worth something in a few years.

I hope they stick with WFT but they won't - it would make it too easy to still call them the Redskins.

That’s really what a lot of this boils down to. 20 years ago maybe I’d be more fired up about the name change. Now I’m like eh, ok, I’ve got bigger things to concern myself with. Life is tough enough as it is, got to go with the flow when you can and pick your battles. Some things aren’t worth the stress.

Yeah I don't recall exactly where but I heard an interview of Jason Wright were he half admitted that they were betting on people being more inclined to accept the new name after so much time, and you could almost hear him think "woops, that doesn't work if you say it outloud" :D

At the beginning of all this I think the org was genuinely caught with their pants down and clearly did not have any sort of a contingency plan in place for a name change. A two year process to rebrand a major sports franchise really isn't that unreasonable. Better to take your time and get it right. Imagine if they had immediately gone with Warriors only to continue to face backlash from NA groups.

Not the specific name choice but the rollout, branding/logos, marketing, internet registrations, etc.

I want to believe they are being systematic, dotting their i's and crossing their t's. But how hard would it be to believe that at the end of the process, Snyder steps in and muddies the waters.

The one thing that is true is this name whatever it will be needs to be non-reactive and last the test of current politics and long time quality.

Agreed. It came out of nowhere. And then all the sleazy revelations from the front office came out as well. Ashburn was suddenly caught in a multi-front war. Better to take their time.
