Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark
do you think any of the players actually volunteered to restructure?
I think a very large percentage of players approached the team to restructure. I beleive that at least Jansen, Portis, and Brunell did... It is part of the team first attitude Coach Joe Gibbs has brought back to the team. If the team can do better, I can do better. Gibbs' type of guys...

Thanks, Dmek, for welcoming me back! I've returned from a very excellent vacation to New Zealand and Bora Bora!
I work for the Fed & give money back in taxes every payday!
They come to you and tell you that you have to give money back. Do you volunterr and pay extra tax money back? LOL I don't find what he said that bad. you know how the press can make something sound bad. He just said that they did not come to him and then maybe laughing said the comment about he wasn't going to volunterr and give money back. I could see that comment as a joke and the press not mention that he was laughing and joking as it was said.

Not voluntarily. I know I dont volunteer that money, I just let them take it so I dont end up sharing a cell with Marion Barry.

Re: Patten's Smart Ass Remark

"Give back" isn't always the case. Frequently, restructures are simply guaranteeing some salary as signing bonus, to be able to spread it over coming years, or converting roster bonuses to signing bonuses for the same reason. The money stays the same, it's just tabulated differently.

Well, he is speaking the truth, isn't he?

His statement probably looks worse in print than it really is.
Taken from the WP:

Wide receiver David Patten said the same. Patten signed a five-year,$13.5 million deal with a $3.5 million signing bonus. "They didn't come to me," Patten said. "And I didn't volunteer. Would you volunteer to give your money back?"

Does that not rub anyone else the wrong way?
Patton shut up and earn your money!!!! Like many free agents you tock the money but put up little to earn it! Over rated yes! A reach yes! A team player I have questions! You really come off by saying what you said like this...... I got my Money and Rings so deal with it!!! This is Gibbs only bad move that I can see!!!!!!! :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: Patten :vomit: :vomit: :vomit: Man I sure wish we could cut him and get someone that really could be#2 WR. But at BEST he is a #3 or #4 WR!

he is, but sometimes i think the truth is meant to be kept to yourself.

yes, which is what I said in an earlier post. But at the same time, it could indicative of his unhappiness. I hope that's not the case, but as i mentioned earlier he did voice some displeasure w/things last year.
He's a good player & he was missed more than we realize once he was hurt. I just hope he's not disgruntled because we're going to demote him to #3 hopefully when we get a wr in fa.
