Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Changing the subject a little,(but not entirely) We now have 3, 6 round picks this year. Right? I guess we are looking for a diamond in the rough so to speak. I don't know that we really got anything for Ramsey. How many of our 6th round picks have made the team recently? Does anyone know?

Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Best of luck to him........hope he gets a shot at the starting job there.
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
6th round pick...damn. oh well. cap space and he was in contract year :)
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Hope we draft a placekicker with the pick!
|
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
I'm just glad we can finally put the Ramsey vs Brunell debates to rest. Good luck to him, I hope he does well in NY, he deserves it.
Sorry to see such a good guy leave, but we're better off. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
For some perspective....
Going back to 1961, here are the QBs the Skins have invested a first round pick in: 1961-Norm Snead (spent 3 yrs in DC, 52% comp%, 196 TDs, 257 Ints for career) 1994-Heath Shuler 2002-Patrick Ramsey 2005-Jason Campbell So far, three busts and one that has yet to take a snap. Not a great track record. |

You're quite the optimist aren't you? |

I think this debate may still linger a little bit after he's gone, like Humphries when he left... oh wait that's before the internet was born. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
I wish Pat the best. Hopefully he will succeed in NY.

Now we can start Brunell v. Campbell! |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
of course it will. it always does. ESPECIALLY if he does well and brunell sucks it up this year and campbell isnt ready yet.

LOL Wishful thinking, probably. |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Good luck Pat!!!! Take the big apple by storm!!!
I hope Burnell stays well this year or Campbell is ready! There went our back up plan for a 6th pick.....Bad |
Re: Ramsey to the Jets
Good riddance. I was never sold on him.
Glad this chapter in the debate over Ramsey vs. Brunell is over! Now let's get back to business and get Jason Campbell ready to take us back to the big dance. |

In reality, quarterbacks picked in the first round that go on to great success occurs about as rarely for the Redskins as they do for everyone. Not many teams can brag about it. But ... Let's take a look at 1st round draft picks overall since 1991 shall we? 1991 - Bobby Wilson, DT, Michigan St 1992 - Desmond Howard, WR, Michigan 1993 - Tom Carter, CB, Notre Dame 1994 - Shuler 1995 - Michael Westbrook 1996 - Andre Johnson, T, Penn State ... WHO??? 1997 - no pick 1998 - not sure Not until 1999 did we finally get a winner with Champ. Then 2000 with Arrington and Samuels. Then we were back to our old ways with Rod Gardner in 2001. Then Ramsey. Then our first pick (in the second round) in '03 was Taylor Jacobs. All in all, we haven't really had much luck with the 1st round picks in general. |
