I think you may want to get some of your facts straight before sounding off. 1st off, money is not and was not an issue with LaVar. As you remember he dropped the 6.5 million dollar contract mishap, saying he was happy here and didn't want to ruin the relationship with the organization and more importantly the fans. 2nd, he forfeited 4 million dollars to get out of a situation he thought was going to be more detrimental to him and team. He saved the Redskins 4 million dollars on the cap, so they could address needs at other positions. He walked out of Washington with some pride, and looked good doing it. All the other stuff about playing out of the system, needing spotlight, playing time, we shall see. The one who started that out the system rumor is pushing to sign him(Lewis) and the other D-cord he worked for is trying to get him in Miami, plus Marty in San Diego wants him. So if all this out the system crap was true, and he was washed up, would these former coaches be pushing to sign him. Even a strict, by the book guy like coughlin, think not! We will see what kind of player he is going to be, I have no clue, but I would bet barring injury he will be back to his probowl self. He has lost almost 20 lbs since the season ended and has done nothing but work out. and he has a lot of motivation to prove alot of people wrong.
First off let me say I hated to see Lavar go but we will be fine without him. He did not drop the 6.5 mil deal we worked out some strange contract which we would pay $ or we could release him (I do not remember the deal but just there was a deal). Now the 4 mil. we do not know what went on in his negotiations with the skins so how can we give him the credit of giving back the money to help us out. For all we know Lavar may have went to the skins and asked to be released and the skins sadi no your cap hit is to much. Then Lavar comes back and says what will it take for me to be released and the skins say that if he could reduce the cap hit. Thus he gives back 4 mill because he wants to be released and not to help the skins. I realy don't care why he gave back the money I just don't see how people can argue a point which they do not know to be 100% true.

If LaVar isn't about money, why hasn't he signed yet?

Could it be the outrageous signing bonus he's looking for? (Reportedly $16M)

Thats basically it. The skins were going to rework his contract. And like all the other players that reworked their deals they were contigent on the CBA being signed. If the CBA was signed, the new contracts were null and void. He wanted his to be good either way. They worked out a deal having LaVar being a free agent after the 2007 season. He felt that with what went on last year between him and team, it may be better to move on now. So they said they couldn't cut him based on the cap hit, he said what if I forfeit some of the bonus, they said 4 million and the rest is HISTORY!.

I haven't heard his contract demands. where did you see he was looking for $16million signing bonus. No way in hell he is going to get that. He better be looking around 5 to 7 million in signing bonus. He was hurt for two years.

It sounds to me that he did it for himself but in the deal also helped out the skins. I guess its how you look at it.

Could it be that he's trying to find the right fit with defensive coaches and defensive scheme after what happened here in Washington? Fact is, nobody knows.

I don't have a problem saying the deal helped out both parties........which is why the hatred seems so uncalled for. What is everyone so bitter about?

Here is one source that says he's looking for a bonus of $10M, which is still pretty outrageous.

It's not clear how interested the Giants really are in the 27-year-old Arrington, who made his first free-agent visit to the Miami Dolphins yesterday. There are rumors he wants a signing bonus of $10 million, which is a lot for a player who lost his starting job last season and did not record a sack.

You still think he's not about the money??

Everybody is about the money. Whoever says they're not is lieing.

He's talked to Cincy, he knows exactly what he's getting into there with Lewis.

He's talked to the Giants, Pierce has probably given him a pretty good idea of what they do there.

He's talked to Miami, he knows what he's getting into there because George Edwards is their LB coach.

So the only logical thing to me that could be holding up his signing seems to be a contract.

Another article regarding LaVar and the Giants that reports he's looking for "huge money"

http://www.nypost.com/sports/61020.htm

March 14, 2006 -- With no offer from the first two teams he visited, linebacker LaVar Arrington is preparing to make more trips as free agency rolls on and he searches for a new place to play.
Arrington stopped by Giants Stadium over the weekend and yesterday his agent, Carl Poston, said, "I don't know if the Giants thing is going to work out or not."

The Giants often pounce on their targets when they like what they see, but they have taken a more deliberate approach with Arrington. Poston said Arrington enjoyed his visit with the Giants, adding "It's hard not to like New York."

There are some interesting theories floating around regarding Arrington and the Giants. One involves a conflict of sorts between the front office, which is leaning toward trying to sign Arrington, and the coaching staff, which is not sure he will fit in with the defensive scheme. Arrington, who has spent all six of his NFL seasons with the Redskins, is a superb athlete, but tends to freelance on the field and that may have turned off the coaching staff.

Arrington also may be at his best playing in a 3-4 defensive scheme, where an outside linebacker can find himself uncovered at the line of scrimmage. The Giants are a 4-3 team that relies on the pass-rushing skills of ends Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora.

"It doesn't fit," said someone with knowledge of the situation.

Plus, Arrington is seeking huge money, which would limit how active the Giants can be in free agency.

All players want to get paid, no doubt. I had just not heard how much he was asking for. Hey Moulds old ass is asking for 10 mil, and so is Law. No way either one of those guys get it either.

Another article stating LaVar is looking for big money, and may be "pricing himself out of a job"

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-freeagents032106&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Another Poston client, linebacker LaVar Arrington, also seems to be pricing himself out of a job, as he seeks what is believed to be a double-figure signing bonus and a base salary in excess of $5 million a year. That's believed to be too steep for his top suitor, the Giants, and has kept the Bengals from making any serious overtures.
