Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?
Damn ST. Why go there? What does Arch being white have to do with anything? The guy is a banger even if he has lead hands. He'll be in the SS position, so his job is more run support than looking for that glider hanging out there for the taking. He's white. Get over it.
maybe.....but hell I would had rather went after Ed Reed, he's unhappy in Balitmore and we could had traded a second round and next year future for a real star......Plus Arch is a liability in the passing game.........and he's ok but trust me.....he's no Ed Reed..... |
I believe john lynch is the last of the good white safteys in the league......
:benched: I hope you didn't mean that like you wrote it. He may be the only good white saftey in the NFL now, but you can be sure there will be more. |
Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?
we all need to step back and give arch a chance before we start bashing him

If I were a GM and thought I could get Reed, I'd take him over Arch as well...but not because he's black :nono: . Personally, I think Reed might be the best strong safety in the league right now. He and Taylor in the same backfield would force teams to forget about the slot position, carry 12 tight ends, and mash every downfield pass to within 5 yards of the sideline. THAT would be worth seeing. |

Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?
Randal El probably got more money than his production deserved...hopefully we got him on the upswing and he proves to be worth the loot down the line. He is the one I worry the most about though.

ST21 doesn't care about white people. {Kanye West looks on awkwardly} Ok, seriously.. I think Archuleta was a want signing moreso than a need signing. Hopefully the fact that he is playing more near the line will limit his lack of range and coverage skills. To the old-schoolers out there, remember, GW defense is patterned after the '85 Bears 4-6 defense. Gary Fencick was their 'Archuleta' and dude was a beast but he was not great in coverage. He played primarily near the line, blitzing the QB and blowing up RB out of the backfield. Love the Lloyd and Randle-El moves, excited about the Carter move. 2 moves I wish we had made, David Thornton and Ryan Longwell. |

I agree. But I remind myself that i feel about Antwaan now, how I felt about Santana last year before the season got going. If anything, comparing the two before last season you could argue that Antwaan had more upside. With his special team prowess and Moss' reputation as a malingerer. |
Adam A., all we need is a overrated SS, he has a career high 3 ints, and not because he's feared,...just no hands and I believe john lynch is the last of the good white safteys in the league......i would rather traded for a # of safteys in the league, than pay him the richest contract for a Saftey in History..........
Hey ST, you are on to something. As you know

Chinese guys can't play basketball
Black guys can't play golf or be pocket quarterbacks
White guys can't jump or play safety
Let's just hire people for the positions we "know" they are good at and keep every other group out! And why should the Redskins pay the richest contracts in the league for players and assistant coaches? Lets just have the owner of the most valuable most profitable franchise in all of sports pocket the change for himself. Money is what the Redskins have. We have an owner who uses it to our advantage. |

I don't see how El could have more upside, he's never had more than 600-some yards a season, moss had a 1100 and 800 yard year before coming here. |
Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?
At the time, a lot of us were skeptical of the trade. That's my main point. And the injury factor negates the statistical advantage somewhat.
Randle El hype this year vs. Santana Moss hype last year |
Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?
I'm not convinced Archuleta is worth a contract that makes him the highest paid safety in the league. He isn't even the best safety on his own team, let along the league. I'd rank him in the second tier of safeties actually.

Re: What move would you have not made if you were GM?
Archuleta because of the money. Randle El because of lack of upside.

Who said Carter? and why?
