Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block
This guy had a pro-bowl season last year. How many pro-bowl cb's come on the free agent market at his age. VERY FEW.

so why is he on the trading block? |
Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block
He'd be the no. 1 CB for years to come, but it would cost a pretty penny. Probably the first rounder. And he'd warrent a big money deal upon signing.
If he is a no 1 corner with a long future ahead of him, why would they trade him? |
Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block
get him.

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block
Trade Rogers and Holdman for him...No really, I'm serious!

Sure, why not but only if they throw McGahee in for Ducket... |

Toss in Spikes and that would work out fairly even. |
Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block
Archuleta for Matt Bowen!...sigh, who'd have thought when we signed Archuleta we were just getting Bowen with hair?

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block
Coudn't hurt to bring him in -- there's no place for this secondary to go but up.
Also, notice how the cries for Ade Jimoh seem to have died down after getting beaten for the first TD on Sunday? Funny how that works.
And springs is the best corner in the league...sure |
Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block
I actually thought Clements may be the No1. target for the FO this offseason. I think it is strange that he is on the block though and I am not sure we have ANYTHING to trade for him unless they really want Vincent back.
Clements is an example of an underated good young CB who has played and flourished under Williams and Gray kind of like a young Springs and I don't like the idea of using our first for him I am reminded of the likes of Gardner. LaVar, Heath Shular, Patrick Ramsey, Tre Johnson all first round picks that never panned out then I remeber I am all for proven talent over 1st round bust. The bigest problem I would have is who do we move out of the secondary to make room for him? |

Re: Nate Clements on Trading Block
We are in hell back there in the secondary, and if Clements is available and all it would take is a number one draft choice, I think that it is worth it.
If we can get stabilized back there, it will change the character of the team I think. We can go back to being aggressive on defense. If he had been on the team at the beginning of the year, we would have perhaps been able to win two of the games we have lost. Sign him now for a number one and get him under a long term contract. |
