Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
I'd just tell them to relax, stop thinking so much and play football like you have been doing since you were 10.
you do realize that that's just a tv show right?
You're point? Doesn't mean it is a bad idea. Actually I think Matty is right. No pep talk ever given won a game. I tend to think the idea that pep talks really inspire is more of a tv-land idea. No one ever played well because someone got them pumped up. I am dubious of the effect of pep talks. Guys either want to play hard or they don't. Maybe a pep talk gets them going but no guy is sitting there in the middle of the fourth quarter thinking "Gee that pep talk has really got me going right now. if it weren't for that great pep talk I'd be going through the motions right now." |

I feel like they are playing football like 10 year olds right now. |

Did I say they should play football like 10 year olds? |

I don't think FRPLG is saying that you said that |

EVERY coach of EVERY team everywhere gives their team "their" form of a "pep talk" before and during every game. I'm pretty sure they don't think they are wasting their time. I feel confident they believe their team benefits from it, and plays better as a result of that. |
Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
Block, Tackle, Throw, Run and Catch the damn ball!
Make something happen! Damn it! |
Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
I've heard some pep talks that have gotten me pretty pumped up. It might not last the whole game, but at least when I run out there on the field I am running with some serious passion.
I think a pep talk kind of builds momentum, just like a game-changing play, and the team has to take that momentum, and keep building off of it, if it's going to do anything with that pep talk. |
Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
you think washington is negative? hahaha
|
Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
The pressure here is nothing compared to New York, Philly, New England and so on. They turn on those teams so fast it makes your head spin.
|
Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
new england fans would turn? they only just now GOT their fans

Yes, I think it can get pretty negative around here. I really hope we are not trying to justify that by a comparison to a cesspool like Philly, or their................fans? |
Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
and a lot of the columnists are quite obvious about their biases.

Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
I don't think Snyder is helping with that negativity. He builds up all these hopes, and charges an arm and a leg at games. I think the city takes it pretty well. Imagine how New York would react.

Re: If you could give the Skins a pep talk....
You are correct, Snyder wants to get paid. However, Snyder has become a great owner. As far as I have seen, he has given Joe2 basically everything he has asked for. For the first time in his tenure, he has stepped back out of the spotlight. He may help build some hopes, as he probably has them himself, as do I, and you. He like, me, and many others is a lifelong fan. Something is dreadfully wrong in Skinsville. I have complete faith that Joe2 will confabulate the problem and execute said cure. I am not so sure it will be this season.
