DGreen, are you the same guy I saw holding up a sign that said "Fire" Al Saunder last week? (It was written exactly like that.)

I only ask because the whole having the word fire in quotes made no sense to me and I wasn't sure why the person left of the last S. Was it for 'savings'?

Saunders isn't looking good now but getting rid of him would be a mistake, IMO. We'd be forcing our young QB to learn yet another system, which will just take more time, which will lead to more bitching. Plus, I doubt the success he had in KC was a huge fluke.
Yupp I am not absolving him of the blame. I thinke he should have protected Campbell a bit more. At the same time we shouldnt change OCs once again. Keep him one more year.

Too much playaction, got campbell in some deep trouble at times when the defense knew the fake was coming. Those two interceptions were due to the fact that the falcons knew the playaction was coming, and bett's failed to pick up the right blitzer.

I agree 100%, that is why I have been saying that we needed to protect Campbell more on 3rd down situations. Al should have known that they would keep blitzing him, so he should have kept Cooley to block, maybe even a double TE set blocking.

I think that was Al's biggest mistake in the game.

Yeah, I have no problem with both sellers and betts being in on passing downs, but we need both of them back picking up the blitz especially if we are gonna use the playaction, which takes so long to develop

What still baffles me is the fact that Saunders came in here and said he never uses the same play over the course of 4 games, but we've seen that ARE reverse in at least the last 3 games. I guess the key is that they use different formations each time, but it still seems like the defense knows its coming. Same goes for that stretch run that Betts kept pulling off (nicely) yesterday.
Anyone else notice this?

However I feel this is another reason why Portis was so valuable. He could block really well. I did see Cooley and Betts whiff a couple blocks, that Cooley could have easily made. This a point that should addressed as well.

I think he is trying to make the offense simple because everyone was complaining about it being too flashy and complex in the beginning of this year.
We also have a young QB

With the exception of the last couple games, ARE usually throws the ball about once a game, so I do not know what you are talking about.

And when those passes fall incomplete everyone complains about how his gameplan is too flashy. Of course when it works, he is the genius we have always been waiting for.

He should have ran less PA passes and had more protection for JC. That is his only mistake. Otherwise he called a damn good game.

yeah, besides the playaction every play, I thought he called a great game as well. I can't remember the last time ARE threw the ball
18/38 isnt going to win you games, and in the end its not al saunders who is throwing the ball. for the 5th time in various threads, its about execution. the playcalling was there for the most part, but the execution was rarely there
thats been our biggest problem from day one...and still is today..
great opening drive then they went to sleep the rest of the game other than ladel betts.
it all boils down to execution ,amen my warpath brutha..
