Re: 3/6/07 WP's JLC Rumors: Denver-Washington Trade, Bly, Okoye
No I don't Tafkas do you get all your inside info from the ESPN mothership?
I think I just got served. I get my "inside" info from ESPN, Comcast SportsNet, Sportstalk 980, local tv stations and other places I've worked or have friends who work in those places. |
NFL Network has reported that Denver wants Betts in the deal as well.
If so, then I think we should drop the trade.. Because Betts is very valuable to Redskins.. I mean, Portis always get some kind of injuries and having Betts to release him from pressure.. I think it would help us out lot.. If the trade does not include Betts then I'm up for it.. |
Re: 3/6/07 WP's JLC Rumors: Denver-Washington Trade, Bly, Okoye
Maybe because JLC writes some brutal stuff about the organization I figured he was biased. He does work for the Post. Not to say the Redskins don't need local watchdogs because that's why the writers are so important, but why would Snyder want JLC to have any good info after some of the stuff he has published in the Post?? That's what I still don't understand? Not that Snyder can do much about it.

Re: 3/6/07 WP's JLC Rumors: Denver-Washington Trade, Bly, Okoye
I still doubt we'd get anything higher than a 3rd for Springs and I bet we'd get a 4th. The fact is the guy is aging fast, is coming off a injury-plagued season, and, rightly or wrongly, is perceived as injury-prone. If were a GM, I wouldn't give anything higher than a mid-4th for Springs and that would be pushing it. Don't get me wrong, I love Springs, but I don't think he has as much trade value as people might think.

Hypothetical Trade
Denver Gets Round 1 Pick 6 Shawn Springs Washington Gets Round 1 Pick 21 Round 2 Pick 21 Round 3 Pick 21 Dre Bly That would be an awesome trade....for us |

The most trade value Shawn Springs has is on this board. The fact is that he CAN'T stay healthy. In 10 seasons he's missed at least 4 games 4 times. He's played in 16 games 3 times and 15 games 3 times. Another problem I have is that TO flat out has his number. On the other hand, Dre Bly has missed 4 games only once in 8 seasons. He's even got 6 more career picks than Springs. Now, he takes more chances, but he's got 2 less seasons on him and a lot more seasons of not missing significant time. Finally, as for him being a malcontent, I think most people would be in Detroit. I mean really, who wants to play in Detroit? All the Skins have to worry about is winning, if you win he won't say anything. Also, I doubt the Skins will miss Springs' "leadership," I mean, who else could they find to talk smack from the bench about guys who don't play their anymore in games they're not even going to try to go in? |
Re: 3/6/07 WP's JLC Rumors: Denver-Washington Trade, Bly, Okoye
why not keep springs and move him to safety

That or trade him for even more picks. |
why not keep springs and move him to safety
I have a problem with moving Shawn Taylor to strong safety. He can play free safety. He plays a mean free safety. I would want him downfield instead of the guy in the box. He's always played free and he's been a monster. He had a down year last year (just like everyone else). I think moving him would be a mistake. Also, what makes everyone so sure Shawn Springs can play safety or stay healthy at free safety for that matter? |
Re: 3/6/07 WP's JLC Rumors: Denver-Washington Trade, Bly, Okoye
Look what i just found i don't know what going on.
DENVER -- The Broncos have heard cornerback Dre' Bly is bitter about being traded to Denver, and that he'd prefer to play for Washington. The team, though, wants to give him some time to warm up to the deal. It's only been a few days since the 29-year-old Bly was acquired from Detroit -- along with a sixth-round pick -- for running back Tatum Bell, offensive lineman George Foster and a fifth-round pick.
ESPN.com - NFL - Broncos hope Bly warms up to playing in Denver |

There's talk the Saints are making a play for Bly as well
|
Re: 3/6/07 WP's JLC Rumors: Denver-Washington Trade, Bly, Okoye
i agree that jlc is a donkey, his articles are brutal and do nothing for me...on another note, we should keep springs unless denver really is going to give us a first, second, and third on top of bly....that would equal a no brainer in my mind, i dont know a front office that wouldnt do that...haha except maybe ours.
