Well, apparrently I am an idiot. Back at the end of 04, I bought an 05 GMC Sierra, but the special edition with the aluminum block that gets 1-2 MPG fewer then the stock v-8, but produces about 25 more horses. It's fully loaded, and I love it, but it has AVERAGED me 14.4 mpg. I've thought about trading it in, but I love having a truck, and to get something that would replace it in my heart would cost like 40-50k.
What's even worse, I live about 1 mile from where I work, so I could walk to work (my wife could too), AND I have a motorcycle that gets a good 45-55 MPG. My wife makes me wear a helmet and it messes up my hair. So I still drive the truck.

Gas prices in California are out of control. It just went over 3.50 a gallon by my house. The scariest thing is it’s not even June yet. Doesn’t gas get more expensive in July and August? :Flush:

I hear all the time how the Pres. & VP make all this oil money but no one has ever been able to explain how they do so thats why I ask.

Most people who claim how Bush and Cheney are making money off the oil game simply point to their interest in Halliburton...

What interest in Halliburton I thought that Cheney sold all his interest in the Co. back before he ran in 2000 for that reason. Thats why I ask the question because its repeated as fact but no one can explain.

What about that whole behind close door meeting Chaney had with the Energy companies? You know, the one whose transcripts they fought to keep sealed. It reeks of impropriety.

It must be awful to have to pay $3.50 a gallon for gas!!! Try living here, I live in N.Ireland and currently the price is £0.94 a LITER (approx. $1.88 a liter), on mainland UK the prices are around £1 a liter.
Seriously guys, you might think you are hard done by, but I would love to pay so little - one of the reasons you don't see as many powerful cars over here is due to the cost of gas!

That's a good point, you see a lot of those ugly little 2 door specs over there, or a bunch of people driving scooters.

The President only has to disclose who attened the meeting and not the substance when these meetings go on. If they had to disclose everything that was discussed at the white house how could they get any thing done. The Dems. made a big issue of this knowing that the Pres. would fight them on the issue as if they gave them the information then they would have set a presidence (spelling). Then the Dems would use this to make them disclose other meetings and nothing would ever get done. This is not new and was practiced by all presidents so they could get stuff done. The Dems. then by making this an issue could then point their finger and say see they are with big oil and they are hiding this info from us. I guess it worked by post.

You have got to be kidding the Bush family is from Texas where W used to be a CEO of a small oil company Spetrum 7, that was aquired by Harken,(bush sold his stock at the perfect time and made a boat load of money) Cheney worked for Haliburton (Cheney sold his stock and made even more money). You dont seriously believe that they still dont have close ties and business dealings with both of those industries?
