Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
Somehow, this just does not seem to have the flavor of Joe Gibbs influence.

Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
It looks like the Skins contacted the Seahawks earlier this week to interview their QB coach Jim Zorn.
Redskins are interviewing Seattle Qb coach Jim Zorn for an offensive coordinator position, according to league sources. The Redskins asked premission to talk to him this week - again not the head coaching job
Here's more from JLC's blog: Redskins Insider |
Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
He has NFC East experience and has taken that experience to the SuperBowl.

How many years ago was that he went to the Super Bowl? Here's a guy that got fired by his best friend, by the way. |
Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
More recently than any of the other coaches on the list.
Of course, that was the perfect storm for the Giants, and if we had one more win, it likely could have been us in the Super Bowl that year. |

Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
If this is true, then I see this as Dan Snyder really not caring what his fans/players think...he really doesn't.

Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
I will NEVER jump off the Redskins bandwagon, but, if true, I don't like the move. So pretty much the entire coaching staff wants GW, the players wants GW, the owner preaches about the importance of continuity, and yet we hire a new guy who will likely fire many of the coaches and want to make significant changes to the roster? I can't quite follow that logic.
The only way this move will make sense is if Williams and Saunders remain on the staff as the defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively. |
if this is true, i don't think i'll be joining alot of you in the mass bandwagon jump. fassel is a questionable hire. but i'm hesitant to call it a bad one.
if it is true, let's at least wait to see what kind of staff he assembles.
Great point. Frankly, I'd like to see Williams stick around as D-coordinator if Fassel would have him. What I don't want to see is The Danny throwing draft picks like confetti to Baltimore as compensation for Rex Ryan as DC. |
Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
What I don't understand is what do people have the bigger gripe about? That it's not Williams, or that it's Fassel?
Because you hear people preach "continuity" but then say well it's ok if we hire McDaniels, or Cowher, or Coach Lubbock |

Two of you interviewed for the same job, and the new guy get's it? Naw, that 'aint gonna fly. |

Because you hear people preach "continuity" but then say well it's ok if we hire McDaniels, or Cowher, or Coach Lubbock
It's both. The whole thing is just rubbing folks the wrong way. Fassel is perceived to be an outsider. And there's something about what the Skins endured this season that transcends business. I don't care how many stats people post about Fassel's career, there's nothing...nothing...that blows me away about this guy. It's almost like Snyder..and I'm not a Snyder basher, by the way....is leaving Williams high and dry. |

Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980
This would be another stupid move by a broken/disfunctional franchise. For some reason the Skins feel the need to use evryone else's cast off and reject coaches insteading of bringing in a new coach and letting him prove himself. I cant imagine the results would be any worse than they have been.
