AL(INDY): Are the Redskins doomed to mediocricy?Tough division,owner who doesn't know the football world well enough to spend his money wisely,mid round draft choices,Portis and Moss getting old and injury prone?

SportsNation Matt Mosley: (12:43 PM ET ) I wouldn't classify Portis and Moss as "old." And both of them are willing to fight through injuries. But I do think the franchise needs to make better decisions. They finally stopped free-wheeling in the free agency and then they went out and drafted three BUSTERS in the second round. Maybe those guys will pan out, but right now it's not looking good.

SportsNation Matt Mosley: (12:55 PM ET ) They better address that offensive line. Samuels is good, but he's not getting any younger. You have an aging Pete Kendall at left guard and an aging and broken down Jansen at right tackle. You better address the offensive line in a hurry. And you might want to see if you can get Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly ready to go for next season.

I agree completely. There are many coaches that could win a SB if they're given 14 seasons. Hell, Norv Turner still has three or four more shots at immortality if that's the standard. Wade Phillips has about eight. Steve Spurrier quit a dozen years before he reached the cutoff for greatness.

Yea, Jim Schwartz will be a coach soon and most likely a good one.

It's amazing how many good retreads and potentially good "new" head coaching candidates are out there.

I agree. What has made Pittsburg great is their front office and their ability to draft great players. Something we suck at.

If anybody caught Howie Long's potential hc list here it is: It's pretty good, imo.

Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan: He has a proven track record and his father’s (former NFL head coach Buddy Ryan) passion. At 46-years-old, he could be a coach for a long time.



Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels: He’s 32-years-old and just one year removed from overseeing the most prolific offense in NFL history.



Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz: Talk about blueprints, he’s been with head coach Jeff Fisher for eight years and if that isn’t enough, he’s spent another four years with Bill Belichick.



Dolphins defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni: He had a front row seat on one of the NFL’s most-historic turnarounds. Both Sparano and Bill Parcells swear by him.



Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo: Spagnuolo turned down an opportunity to be a head coach last year to come back and win another ring with the Giants.



Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier: Frazier took over for Mike Tomlin with very little drop off.

I don't think getting to the SB is the measuring stick. I think a lot of owners look at whether the coach is making improvements and are they getting into the post season. True, SB is the ultimate but I don't think most owners look at that as ..."If we are not there in 2-3 yrs I'll fire the coach."

I don't understand it either. I just wish the guy would get a job so we don't have to talk about him anymore.
