re: Skins look to improve WR-Sign Roydell Williams (could add Hackett)
Regardless of who we sign, I don't like the fact that Kelly is still rehabbing a bad knee and the same hammy that bothered Devin Thomas last year is already acting up. I want our 2nd year receivers to work out a helluva lot more than I want Hackett on this team.

re: Skins look to improve WR-Sign Roydell Williams (could add Hackett)
I agree, I'm wondering about Thomas and Kelly, as well.. But I gotta say, this doesn't look good for Kelly though.. If I could choose, I would sign either Hackett or Washington but play Kelly and Thomas more, and see if they could make Hackett or Washington to be expendable.. Although if I had my way, I think it's better to make Washington priority to sign than with Hackett due to his abilities to be on special team..
Whichever way Redskins will go; I expect them to know not to do anything that would stunt Thomas and Kelly's growth.. |
re: Skins look to improve WR-Sign Roydell Williams (could add Hackett)
We should sign and play Hackett and Washington.....I could care less if Thomas or Kelly see playing time..You should earn a roster spot not be given one because youre a 2nd round pick. Dont see us going into another season with gimpy, suspect WR's waiting for them to develop..There were several WR's from the Broncos, Rams etc who were drafted in the same season as these 2 and contributed right out of the gate...... My philosohpy is RIDE or DIE....This is the NFL they should learn to be a pros ASAP
I think it would be a great idea to add both of these guys to the roster because you need a good mix of youth and vets. I think I'd rather see Washington stick on the opening day roster just because of his special team ability. The reality of the situation is if we have to count on Hackett or Washington for anything more than to be the 3rd reciever at best then we are probably in trouble.
not to dog on Thrash because of everything that he's done for us, but it can't really get much worse at a #3 spot, hackett could be like reche caldwell for us, a possession receiver but more than 3rd i'm with you, it's silly that we've got ARE in the 2nd spot as it is, and paying him like a 1st |

I want to see the best available talent we have available on the field PERIOD, at any position. I would like to hope that one of two WR's from last years rookie class can step up. But that has to be proven through practice and understanding the playbook, also being healthy enough to go, which to this point neither has been able to do so. You have to go with the best players available at the end of the day. Whoever gives you the best chance to win football games! |

It's fine as long as it is not George Washington. That guy has seriously lost a step. He hasn't made a big catch in years. |

Yeah, but I seriously see more of him than Jackson, Grant, or Franklin. If it wasn't for George, dude, I wouldn't see any faces! |

I wouldn't expect Hackett or Washington to become immediate contributors even if they are signed. There's a reason they are free agents. Are they not "gimpy" and/or "suspect wide receivers?" Hackett is injury prone and heading for his 3rd team in 3 years, and Washington has yet to stick anywhere. Just b/c they've been around the league longer doesn't make them safer bets than our 2nd year WRs. I agree that you shouldn't be given a roster spot simply b/c of your draft position. But the WR position more often than not takes time to translate from success in college to success in the NFL. There are exceptions like Jackson (philly), Avery (st.louis), and Royal (denver) who were given the chance to start right away and had some success. But you don't draft two guys in the 2nd round and then cut the cord right away b/c they aren't immediate hits. However I think either Hackett or Washington could be an upgrade over Thrash, for the record. |
re: Skins look to improve WR-Sign Roydell Williams (could add Hackett)
Hackett has talent he just needs to stay healthy.

re: Skins look to improve WR-Sign Roydell Williams (could add Hackett)
I told you guys I was worried about Kelly and it sounds like the Skins are also. Bringing in all these WR's in case he has another set back.
I guess I don't have a problem with Hacket or Washington its just I really wanted Thomas and Kelly to shine. I was also interested in our 7th round WR Marko Mitchell, it sounded like he had a few good catch's over the weekend and Keith Elio who seemed to have a couple of nice catch's over the weekend also. All in all I guess I was hoping we would start getting younger and taller at that position. |
re: Skins look to improve WR-Sign Roydell Williams (could add Hackett)
I just hope is that if Malcom Kelly is not 100% on by the time we have to form our 53-man roster, we go ahead and IR him. I think Devin Thomas is going to have a breakout year along side Tana and ARE will move to his natural #3 position. That leaves two roster spots open and atleast one, if not two of those spots need to be solid special teams contributors. We can't allow Kelly to waste a roster spot all year again. If he's not 100% healthy during the preseason, we need to IR him and sign the best two of Hackett, Washington, Shelton, and Mitchell.
The biggest thing I DON'T want is time going away from Kelly and Thomas. Yes, I want to win now, but we HAVE TO LET THEM DEVELOP.
Don't worry their hamstrings will take plenty of time away from their development. |
re: Skins look to improve WR-Sign Roydell Williams (could add Hackett)
Unbelievable. A week ago everyone whined about how we didn't draft more for the offense.
Now we bring in many bodies to improve the offense and everyone has given Malcolm Kelly up for dead. The FO just can't win. |
