Why would Eminem have a live mic on him throughout the incident if it wasn't staged?
Maybe the mic was in Bruno's buttcrack? :D

Ok Eminem has himself admitted it was a stunt and he was "in on it"

Like I said previously, I think he's totally spinning it (damage control)... case is closed for people that want to believe him. All signs point to him tripping over himself in front of a bunch of people and saying "I meant to do that"... as opposed to risking alienation in the rap game as an unsuspecting victim who got tea-bagged. The dude sold over 600K copies of the latest album the week before this stunt, so it's hard to believe he would give other emcees battle fodder willingly to sell more records (when it's obvious he didn't need to). Now his competitors still have material with which to clown him... but hey, at least "he can take a joke".

There's also a pretty strong rumor floating around that Em actually did agree to a stunt with SBC beforehand- but it was suppose to be some sort of confrontation... SBC and MTV switched it up last minute to make Em the "butt" of the joke.

This is Hollywood- don't believe everything you read (much less what someone says to protect themselves).

I dont know man. The more I think about it Em's crew would have kicked Cohen ass. And he slowly feel with anus over face, I am sure Em would have gotten up if it wasn't staged.

Furthermore it would be a terrible way for Cohen, who is just making it big in hollywood, to burn bridges like that (tricking Em).

Just knowing Cohen's style, I am almost certain he doesn't care about burning bridges... his movies make a grip of money regardless and he's got a built-in audience that will keep him comfortable for a very long time. In fact, his humor is all about burning bridges, so to speak.

As for this situation, I read this quote on another board:

"When the time you wait to back up a story takes the same amount of time it would take to re-create that story, BS meters start to go off."

Logically, this entire sequence fits with a hidden truth. I'd say over half of the people I've conversed with (here in LA) totally don't believe Eminem's latest admission (including most of the people in the industry).

I have seen pretty much everything ever put out by Cohen and I agree with that statement but the strong majority of those he burns bridges with are not huge named movie/music celebs, but mainly random people and politicians, etc.

And he has slowly changed his tactics as he has entered the movie industry. First the Ali G Movie, Borat(Pamela thing was setup) and now Bruno. He doesn't target big name guys rather random joes and c to d listers(fashion guys, etc.).

Re: Sasha Baron Cohen(Ali G/Borat/Bruno) shows Eminem too much

ivnetop, while you are perhaps correct that there would be a theoretical motivation for Eminem to "spin" this had it not been planned, the problem is that that means there is a litany of other people lying on Em's behalf who have absolutely no reason to do so. Why would people with no connection to Eminem cover for him? It makes no sense at all. Moreover, if Cohen cared so little about Em as to orchestrate this without his permission in the first place, why wouldn't he come out now and say, "no way, he wasn't in on it at all." That would make this the biggest celebrity controversy of the year, right in time for his new movie.

And we are talking about a guy who raps about getting ass raped by his stepdad on his new album and dresses up as a woman in the first video. I don't think he's worried about other rappers making gay jokes.

Your theory was not implausible initially but I think it's time to let it go.

OK, I'll stop with the conspiracy nuttery for now lol...

I peeped a few cuts from the album. I had low expectations since the singles are pretty wack... but I've got to say that some of the tracks are pretty good (bagpipes in baghdad being my fave). There's some really nasty (and I mean disturbing) cuts on this album- looks like "Relapse" is definitely appropriate. While it isn't primo Eminem flow, it sure blows away any emcee on FM right now.

Kind of disappointed in most of the production though... Dre hasn't done too much lately (still waiting on Detox), but was expecting much more than what we got on the album. He usually evolves as a producer, but it seemed like more of the same.
