OT with our 1st, best NT/OT available with our 2nd, and RB with our 4th sure would make me happy on draft day.

I agree. I also doubt that he's garaunteed anything in 2011 either. There's really no risk here, assuming our docs felt he had a good chance of getting healthy. If he is, then our starting 3-4 and 4-3 front 7 lineups are close to being set. Haynesworth will be playing 3-4DE/4-3DT and Orakpo will be right beside/behind him ... thats going to be scary. Really, we can now switch between 3-4 and 4-3 formations without having to change our personnel, since Orakpo would be our 3-4 linebacker and 4-3 DE. That statement about us running a 3-4 defense with a 4 man front makes alot more sense now.
Something positive from BHA??? What's this world coming to!!!

They often just put rush OLB on the line. Yeah, sometimes he won't have his hand in the dirt with his linemates, but he's on the LOS.

If shifting to the 3-4, a big 0 technique NT is needed to occupy 2 O-linmen on every play. This guy has that size and in the past has shown that motor.

But the fact that he only signed a two-year deal shows caution, which is a good thing.

But looking at his career I see a guy that has not been on a foootball field in a year. Has not been in on a sack in 5 years. When he was good, he was real good. As the Panthers defense was a good one when he was clogging up the middle. After he went down with that achilles, that defense suffered.

But a guy that big that has not been on a football field in over a year, that just screams of a big man that will take a lot of effort just to get back in football shape.

And as history shows, with an achilles tear, the rehab and return to action is approx 1 year. But it is not until the second year the player returns to form.

So signing just a 2 year deal was a smart move by the front office. A lot of wait and see wrapped up in this if you ask me.

Eye towards the future hoping he'll have a full recovery. Two years at that amount seems to be a rather odd signing unless they anticipate him being able to go by September. He's a force when healthy.

I guess the upside, if there is any, about his injury is that it did occur during the first day of training camp last year.

Looks like he's happy to get another shot and his agent seems to think the Skins structured his contract with an eye towards 2011. Kemoeatu excited about being a Redskin | National Football Post

Apparently his deal is full of incentives and bonuses, so there's not much guaranteed money. Smart deal by the Skins. Word is he won't be ready to go until training camp.
If he's healthy it's a really solid signing. Seems to push Montgomery further out the door
I certainly hope he will be able to go when the season starts, and maybe now Jason Reid won't have to continue to insist Haynesworth become a NT, something we all know would not be his favorite.

Montgomery was not a happy camper at times last year, so I'm wondering just how/where he's going to fit in this year.

Yep, I remember getting upset when Dallas signed Marc Columbo after all of his knee injuries and rehab in Chicago. He was in Chicago for 4 years, never finished a season, missed an entire season. In his first 4 years in Chicago he had only played in 19 games, all due to injury.

And man am I eating my words now.
Looks like the team did its homework with putting together this contract. Had this been a Vinny signing, of the 7 mil, 5 mil would have been guaranteed or something crazy like that.

From Jason Reid:
This also fits my proposition, that the FO is skimping on guaranteed money, and making players show what they can do first.

Just to be inquisitive...... has anyone else sufford a similar injury as an NFL player and done well after sergury?

If so great. I hope the best for him especially since he's a Redskin now. I'm sitting here imagining the combinations.....

Daniels, Kemo, AH

Orakpo, Kemo/AH, Carter

Orakpo, Daniels, Kemo, AH, Carter

Fun, fun. :)
