Re: MAD about Mad Men
Not to get too off track on this, but does anyone else think the "Next Week on Mad Men" are totally useless. They literally give you no idea what's going to happen in the next show. I believe the format is:
Dramatic Line, Dramatic Line, Dramatic Line, Shocked Face, Dramatic Line, "To see more about next week's episode go to AMCtv.com"
The only reason I like watching that is to the see the context of the "dramatic line" in the next episode. In the preview they always seem so evil but half the time the lines are little throw-away asides or jokes. |

I've noticed that too. It always seems like it's going to be some huge deal and nothing ever comes of it.
Agreed, yet I never find myself going to AMCtv.com for more about next week's episode
Neither have I |
Re: MAD about Mad Men
Hmmm...maybe the same people who produce Entertainment Tonight, also do the previews for Mad Men.
Ever watch ET? They preview everything and make it sound like a big deal and then by the time it comes up in the show it is like a ten second clip. ANNOYING! |
Re: MAD about Mad Men
Don done lost his mojo...he needs Bets.

Re: MAD about Mad Men
I really liked this last episode, but it sure seems like they're focusing a whole lot on Peggy this year (Don is expected). I miss the ensemble aspect of the show
I do plan to start using "You should be thanking me, and Jesus, every day for giving you a chance!" in staff meetings |

Re: MAD about Mad Men
What an episode...very women centered. Girl Power! Seriously that weasel at the office deserved what he got.
I've always viewed Mad Men as a show that kinda revolves around the whole Don/Peggy angle (when not dealing with generational themes). Both characters are very similar, in terms of distancing themselves from their pasts and recreating new images. That episode (two weeks ago) was on par with Breaking Bad's "Fly" ep, with just two characters. Don and Peggy have a very dynamic relationship- Don sees himself in her and she looks to him as where she wants to be. |

Anyone notice a stylistic change in Mad Men this week? Incredible scene when he's sipping the scotch and the camera/audio does some nifty things to show his change in perspective, when it comes to drinking. I also like the subtlety in his ressurection... he's not quitting cold turkey- but he's now only drinking after someone puts it in his hand (or a glass of wine with his date). |

I loved the Peggy scene in the elevator Joan was so right. |

I loved the Peggy scene in the elevator Joan was so right.
Yup... the writing was definitely on point with that scene. While viewers applaud Peggy for what she did, Joan hits them with the sad truth of the matter later on. |

So ... how long do we give Henry? Think he makes it to the halfway mark?
Loved the whole "Grass is greener" monologue by Draper while Henry is out mowing the greener grass. It's your lawn now buddy - have fun. Nice. |

I think they need more Trudy! Alas, she's taking JC courses on Community. |
