Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
Spot on with the comparisons... I actually like the standalone eps- it gives two leads a chance to breathe. In all three shows, the viewers got a deeper look into the a pair of psyches and the intricate balance within a relationship. Plus it shakes up the season a little.
Great comparison with The Suitcase (Don't watch Breaking Bad-I know, I know-so I can't compare) Difference for me was The Suitcase was early in season 4 of a series with multiple story lines, while this past episode of The Killing was late in season 1 of a series with essentially one main story-Who Killed Rosie. It's like the series was marching down the field with relative ease then suddenly had to call time out because they couldn't get the play in in time, so the momentum is kind of shot, or stalled at least. And I also have found it kind of interesting that there really hasn't been much background on Rosie herself. She's quite the enigma. |

They hung around on the Ahmed/Terrorist arc too long, they've given no reason to care about the politics arc at all, they've spent an inordinate amount of time on Linden's kid/personal life, we know zippy about Rosie Larson. I mean there are two eps left and NOW we're advancing the timeline on her whereabouts 45 minutes past where it has been for 6 weeks? Seriously? The show is well acted and pretty well written. The story arcs are just too many, too random, and seemingly too irrelevant to the underlying point of the show. Who killed the kid? They needed to spend more time on that and advance that more consistently and effectively. |

Yes, no, sorta ... still don't know much about Rosie or her apparent slide into the sleazy world of high school escort. She know her aunt did it, okay ... but lots of loose ends on that it seems. And what's with the Mayor all of a sudden playing nice by not leaking the photos? Seems more than a little out of character. A lot to do in one episode ... resolve the family issues, resolve Linden's issues (it would have been nice to get a little backstory on the prior case that sent her over the edge but I guess that's not happening) and that's not even considering how they get the proof needed to finally arrest the murderer. I think they spent too much time on the Bennett story arc. They could easily have been done with that in a couple of episodes and then had a good three episode arc on for the conclusion. |

Well The Killing has been renewed for a second season. I'm happy to hear it since I think Linden and definitely Holder are both pretty interesting characters. A second season means they don't have to spend as much time on their back stories/relationship building, which should mean that more focus can be placed on whatever the case may be. |

Why we spent half the season on that to have it resolved out of thin air I have no idea. |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
As to the Bennett story arc, the only reason I can come up with is that, in the original Danish version, the whole "Rosie is hanging out with a muslim" was ultimately related to the murderer and was an integral part of his motivation.

I think it is a good series and, once they strike out on their own (away from the original, Danish, story), I am hopeful that the writing will be closer to the first few episodes as opposed to the middle 7-10. Maybe the writers, on one hand, felt constrained to follow the original series and, on the other hand, were writing as if they only had this one year to show everything. |
Re: Official The Killing Thread (Warning: Potential Spoilers)
I think everyone on this thread should pick their killer and say why. Then we will see who is right next Monday.
I am going with Gwen, I think she was jealous of Richmond and the girl. The Killing - Suspect Breakdown The tracker is pretty interesting, funny the mom is not listed as a suspect as I feel she would be my second choice. |

I was reading that the aunt will be back next season, which leads me to believe next season will somehow be tied to the first, as opposed to a whole new story line |

I think everything pointing to Richmond at the end of the last episode kind of eliminates him for me. They say the last five minutes of the final will be the most shocking which makes me think the mom, that be pretty shocking and she is off most folks radar. It seems she had a rocky reltionship with her daughter and if you remember she was very val say (sp) about the girl missing over an entire weekend in the beginning prior to knowing she was killed. |

what are you trying to say there? The mom would be an absolute stunner. Kudos to you if you're right |

Also, the dad and her had a interesting conversation at the jail house about how the wrong person was locked up between the two of them. |
