Re: Chris Chester Signs
Isnt he a guard? or was he brought in to play center?
we already have natural 3 centers on our roster. what we need are true guards... i think Chester makes most sense at guard but we'll see. |
Right now the projected starting lineup left to right (assuming Jammal Brown re-signs, which is expected) is Williams, Kory L., Monty, Chester, Brown
Would like to see one more interior upgrade that would make Kory or Monty a quality reserve. |
Re: Chris Chester Signs
Well, the Ravens fans don't seem particularly irked by his loss:
Chester gets 5 yrs 20 mil from Deadskins - Baltimore Sun talk forum
We're talking Baltimoreans here. Take their comments with a pound of salt because they hate on anyone or anything associated with D.C. - especially the Redskins. It's too bad that we'll never be able to read what they would have said about Chester if he had re-signed with them. I'm sure he would have been a better player in their eyes in that case. |

complete OL overhaul from when shanny took over. can't say it appears to be a dominant lline but definitely younger and MUCH MUCH better than what we had under zorn. |

Grant Paulsen's write up on Chester...
The Redskins are really whipping the money around. This spending spree has reached historic depths.
Wondering what the team is really getting out of all this money. Chester's a guy. A guy at a position of great need, but he's a guy. I think he can start in the NFL, but I think it's telling that he was going to slide over to center to replace Jason Brown, and they signed Matt Birk for big money instead. I think I like Chris Chester as the future center of the Redskins. But the best RG on the roster could still be Artis Hicks. And he's not good at all.
I want to see how the contracts are structured before I pass judgement. No doubt we have work to do on the OL. |
Re: Chris Chester Signs
ehh... did we overpay? yeah, but hopefully we can draft someone and develop him while chester plays for the next 2-3 years.

Re: Chris Chester Signs
pffffttttt.....
Those Ratbird fans can kiss my fresh white katoootie. Nothing but sour grapes from a cross town rival when they lose an asset that they otherwise would have been glad to have. I put zero stock into their ramblings. |
Re: Chris Chester Signs
Baltimore runs a completely different system from what we run. At center in the ZBS he will excel. However, I still think we overpaid.

Chester is kind of a weird signing. On the surface, it appears he's getting starters money. Maybe he's not. If he's getting starters money, that means he's not going to need to actually play like a starter in order to start. If he's getting backup money, he could possibly start or even get released. I think they'll go after other lineman, just: weird. |
Re: Chris Chester Signs
How much of that is guaranteed money
|
Re: Chris Chester Signs
well, i like chester, and he's athletic, which makes sense in shanny's offense... he can pull all day long.
money seems high, and we still need a quality OL signing, but he'll help. |
Re: Chris Chester Signs
So potentially three Sooners starting on our OL?
|
Re: Chris Chester Signs
What's the situation with ATLs OL? Perhaps the team wanted to move too fast?
