Duh my bad
slightly off topic for a moment, but in other QB news-I hear that Gibran Hamdan has signed with the Seahawks
I guess he'll be playing some arena football first http://www.laavengers.com/pressreleases.php?id=259 |
Can someone explain to me why this guy (Crouch) wasn't considered an NFL prospect at QB even though he had just won the Heisman at that position? This all happened during a couple of years when I wasn't able to follow the NFL too closely.

Why won't he just play QB?

it's gotta be tough for a kid coming out of college, who's played QB his whole life, to be told you aren't going to play QB...you're going to be a wide out, on a team where you'll be a practice squad member at best. When he first came out, he would have been no higher than 5th on the depth chart...I'm not saying what he did was right...he did what he felt he had to do in order to play QB.
I believe he's finally seen the writing on the wall, and he'll be a backup for the Chiefs. The kid is incredibly athletic, and if he's determined and focused, he could really excel. Guess we'll wait and see... Scott Frost was another Nebraska QB who was coverted to safety, and he did ok when he played. Crouch wasn't recruited to play QB because he was from Nebraska's Option Run offense. The NFL saw him for his speed rather than his arm (which is non-existant), so they tried to convert him into a WR. That didn't work, so he's now trying the other side of the coin. |

He was never much of a passer in college, he was a great athelete playing QB. He did his damage with his legs. |
