I first got contacts almost 10 years ago, and wearing them frequently in the summer, and not so much in the winter (Laziness. although I need to wear them more). I do remember it taking a few days to get used to it, irritating my eyes until I had to take them out. As AMD said, once I found my own method, it made things much easier.

I try not to think about how filthy this is and how objectionable it is for other people to see it happen, but man, it is a relief!!!

but i had already paid $155 for the exam and fitting, so i wasn't going to give up. now it takes me only a couple minute to put them both in, taking them out is getting easier too.
