Trust me I didn't like Torrence, and your right he sucked, but some play better in different situations. Funny that he went to the Saints and played better there then he did here. Didn't he record a few INT's? I don't know why I'm thinking he did against us but I'm most likely wrong. Who knows maybe he plays better in a 3-4?

We threw Eddie Royal into the Garcon/Morgan thread so i figured why not Golston? It all happened about the same time just like the afore mentioned.

I agree. Offer him a 1 year deal after that if he's still putting up the same numbers, but if he's not I could see him retiring a redskin and hopefully taking up a position on the coaching staff

Difference is, we offered Royal a contract and at one point thought he was signed.

The Redskins are clearly not confident in Kevin Barnes. The things I like about Barnes besides him being a former Terp is he shows lots of hustle. What I don't like about Barnes is that he struggles in coverage.

At least we'll see Torrence and Barnes compete in preseason for the nickle back position.

As for Madieu Williams is another former Terripin. I'd be more comfortable seeing him starting @ SS instead of Meriweather.

Torrence signing brings really no value other than a body to camp. B Thompson has more value at this point.

Interesting on the the Skins' website when listing positions for players, they have Meriweather as FS and C Griffin listed as CB. Torrence and B Thompson have the ambiguous DB title and Reed and Gomes are just S not SS. Meriweather is the only listed FS on the roster, M Williams hasnt been listed yet...Of course this is nothing set in stone, but may be an initial indication of what their thinking is.

I agree w/Matty, seems SOOOO long ago that Torrence was here. When I saw that we signed him, I immediately thought back to JLC's time on the insider at wash post, and how he dissed the staff decision to cut Torrence. In hindsight, he may've had it right, since GW went to NO & Torrence played there for almost 4 years!

As competition for the nickel, I say Torrence is a good move. Plus he's a good locker room guy. For those down on the secondary, we still have the draft and cuts after that to pick through. All is not lost. We made it through last year with our two starting safeties either hurt or ineffective.

Good depth signings. Especially Williams.

We need bodies in the secondary and should draft a few more.

We may end up being OK after all in the secondary. Not great, but good enough to survive and outscore the opponents.

If he is healthy, he's probably our best safety.

I think right now C. Griffin easily beats our Torrence as the nickle which is not saying much.
