Re: Skins sign Patten
Gibbs has never used a big possession receiver in his life, so why would he start now. People always used to joke about the smurfs he had playing wide out. But of coarse sanders, clark, and monk used to shut them up quick.

Re: Skins sign Patten
Hate to tell you but Monk was a possession guy, he was 6'3 and 210 lbs in his playing days, and that was pretty big back then.
|
Re: Skins sign Patten
well patten is 5-10
|
Re: Skins sign Patten
I don't like the guy - but if he came cheap I'm fine.

He was possession as far as catches were concerned. He was tall, but he was not considered the BIG possession receiver. |
Re: Skins sign Patten
how much he come for i mean we need first downs and a 80%+ first downs on catches is amazing something that we could use and 15 catches for over 20 i can't get over it i think it will help alot!

Huh? Monk was the quintessential possession WR. 6'3, 210 was big back in his playing days. WR's the size of Clark and Sanders were the norm. |
Re: Skins sign Patten
Yes! We signed a gem in David Patten. He is a winner, and he's got three rings to show for it. Maybe if Coles stays Patten will exert a good influence on him. Patten brings so much to our offense - deep threat speed, playmaking ability, and yes, a positive, enthusiastic attitude.

I'm shocked you don't like him  Seriously though, what's not to like? He's a great slot guy, fast, makes plays, he has playoff and SB experience, he'll make a great #3, and he's not going to break our bank. What's not to like? |
Re: Skins sign Patten
EXACTLY - He's a slot guy. In the mold of every receiver we already have. If he's cheap - I'm fine with it. If we had to pay him much of anything, it's a waste. I want either a big name rookie or Jacobs to play. I still feel Coles will be our #1 next year. No matter what I think he'll come back and play hard, and maybe Gibbs will work to accomidate him some.
Heard a really nasty rumor - heard Coles WANTS to go to Dallas. Just a rumor some Dallas fan told me he read. I don't believe it, but if so - burn the heretic. |

I just remember attending his football camp and he didn't appear that big to me. |
Re: Skins sign Patten
6'3 210 is a good size for a WR even nowadays would you agree, so yes back when Monk was in his prime he was larger than your typical WR of the day, that's all I'm saying.

Re: Skins sign Patten
i've said this in the past and i'll say it again patten reminds me of gary clark, he is a small and fast wr. not neccisarily(sp) a possesion wr but a deep threat. he averaged over 18 yards a catch.
