Re: Gym Members
All of this is great, so I'll throw in the only two cents that I have for weight loss.
It takes 3 days to build a bad habit and 2 weeks to break one. Basically, my wife and I loooove to party it up on the weekends. Drink tons, eat garbage. That's a GREAT way to gain weight or hover. We stopped for two weeks, then you don't even have the desire to do it anymore. Stay strong for two weeks and I promise you won't miss whatever was causing the gain. If it's easier, drop just one thing for two weeks, whether it's eating/drinking/not exercising and then drop or add the next thing the following week. All of the above advice is great for work-out plans and diets. Oh, and my favorite thing right now for a work-out is iPad, bluetooth headphones, and starting Breaking Bad from season one on the treadmill. Doesn't even feel like I'm working out. :)
So now I know why the wife dosen't want to have sex all the time. Your saying I get it three days in a row she will be hooked again? |
Re: Gym Members
Wow.
Hope my life isn't that lonely when I'm 48. She needs to take care of him, it's affecting his brain function. |

LOL. Well... honestly there's some truth to that. I won't go into details, but yes, there is some truth to that. |
Re: Gym Members
played a game of full court, 5 on 5 for the first time in years. 16 minutes straight, no breaks. i was sweating like a humanpigdog. felt great (relatively speaking, of course), played better than expected. went 1/3 from behind the arc, played solid d grade defense, got a rebound. best cardio workout i've had at the gym, so far.

Re: Gym Members
how hard is it to wrap a towel around yourself?!?
Jesus jumping jack Christ, i understand showering, i understand changing clothes. i do not understand walking around completely naked, having conversations naked, doing a captain morgan on the bench completely naked, going in the sauna/steam room naked, etc. and these dudes seem to get offended when i ask if i can get them a towel. am i missing something? |

It's the lisping, hip-thrust and eye-fluttering that doing it, not the kind offer of a towel. J/K! |

Re: Gym Members
I'm a wellness director at the Y, and the most important thing when you start is building the habit in my opinion. Don't worry about your intensity, what you use to be able to do, if the workout wasn't long enough, just show up. Once you build that habit after a month of coming 3-4 times a week, then you can start exploring all those other fun things.
What happens a lot with people who haven't exercised regularly in the last 6 months is they come in and have an awesome January and February, working out many times a week, but then crash and fade. |
