Re: NFL Training Camp thread!
Rumor out that Geno Smith "sucker punched" by camp talent and will be out like 6 weeks with broken jaw........
And naturally camp guy is available as of that moment. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/jets-geno-smith-6-10-weeks-punched-teammate-173800088--nfl.html;_ylt=A0LEVvGIM8pVDzEAAj8nnIlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTByMjB0aG5zBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzYw-- |
Re: NFL Training Camp thread!
Jets having some bad luck. However, as bad as Geno is, this might be a blessing in disguise.
On another note, the teams with the most arrests the past 5 years. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/which-nfl-team-has-had-the-most-arrests-over-the-last-five-years-133357974.html |

Re: NFL Training Camp thread!
sucker punching is such horse crap. look the person in the eyes and handle it like a man.
''It had nothing to do with football,'' Bowles said. ''It was something very childish, and he got cold-cocked, sucker-punched - whatever you want to call it - in the jaw.'' Bowles wouldn't go into detail about the nature of the altercation, except to say: ''It was something very childish, that sixth-graders could have talked about. It had no reason for happening.'' |
Re: NFL Training Camp thread!
Hopefully nobody picks up the kid that hit Geno. Let him sit out at least a year. Gotta think the league will suspend him too.

If this was a good player the Jets wouldn't have cut him. A la Michael Westbrook. |
Re: NFL Training Camp thread!
I think the story behind the punch is this:
At the heart of the dispute between former Jets LB IK Enemkpali and quarterback Geno Smith is $600 that Enemkpali believed Smith owed him, per league sources. Enemkpali purchased a plane ticket for Smith to attend his July 11 football camp at Pfugerville High School in Pfugerville, Texas. However, days before the camp, a person close to Smith was killed in a motorcycle accident in Miami and Smith did not attend Enemkpali’s camp, per sources. After Smith did not attend, Enemkpali demanded that the Jets’ quarterback refund him the $600 he allegedly used to purchase a plane ticket. Smith told Enemkpali he would reimburse him the money, but he did not. Enkempali confronted Smith today about the money and the confrontation ended in a punch and broken jaw.
Darrelle Revis holds them both accountable. So it looks like Geno isn't purely innocent here.(even though not deserving of a punch to the face) https://twitter.com/NFL/status/631211727640731653 I think this says a lot about what the teammates think of Geno. Could you imagine somebody popping Brady, Rodgers or Manning in the jaw? I don't think they'd be in that situation to be honest with you.
Hopefully nobody picks up the kid that hit Geno. Let him sit out at least a year. Gotta think the league will suspend him too.
I doubt the League will interfere with this. I'm sure stuff like this happens a bit (minus the fractured jaw though). |

What NFL have you been watching since Goodell took over? lol This has personal conduct policy written all over it. |
Re: NFL Training Camp thread!
I would have to think that maybe the guy who punched Geno is probably done in the NFL, talented or not. It was on a story earlier today that he was arrested also during college for punching an off-duty police officer - probably the only thing that kept him from going to jail.
I guess NFL teams are never going to learn. They keep signing these players who are criminals / have legal issues, etc... Hard to see another team signing that guy after that although I could be wrong. I like the mention of what would happen if someone punched Manning / Rogers / Brady etc.. Like someone else said i don't see those QB's putting themselves in a position like that.... |

Generally teams deal with it internally. It'll be interesting if they do anything. They said it BEST on the NFL network. If you put your hands in a man's face be ready to put your hands up right or wrong.

Geno is certainly to share in some of the blame. History of hot head, immature and questionable leadership skills. Not being able to resolve a simple conflict is just pathetic as a supposed leader on the team. I really can't believe it as something as simple as 600 cash. Bottom line, is same ole jets |

@incarceratedbob Bart Scott on @GenoSmith7 "no one in the locker respects him" he's done with Jets lets look at trade options before camp breaks I happen to agree with Bart. The fact some 6th round pick is slugging the starting QB shows that he doesn't have much respect in that locker room. His leadership void has been showing since draft night when he initially told people he wasn't coming back for day 2 after he failed to get drafted on the first night. |
Re: NFL Training Camp thread!
And I remember where many thought Geno was the second coming of Jesus Christ. Just another overhyped college QB.
