Let's replace Moses if a better alternative comes available. |

RT with third round pick?

Again? I wouldn't...I think Moses/Geron Christian as RT should be ok. Lets see if Christian has developed, he took improved steps this year. Lets focus Schreff and TW situation first...securing our 2 best Olinemen. |

That includes possibly signing to a backup role, getting Scherff on a new contract and managing TW's reintegration or exit. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |
Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
This Panther RT is a FA, I would sign him and trade Moses.

not unless they get a TE in free agency |

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daryl_Williams_(American_football)
So I wouldn't mind Williams at RT...but I think the contract he would garner would be much higher than Moses and his play isn't heads and tails over Moses. It wouldn't be worth it. The only guys I like for Carolina whose contracts are up...my guy Tre Boston FS who once again was a top 3 Safety Coverage rating...he's not as strong in the Run game, but would be a clear upgrade over Nicholson. Guard Groton and CB Bradberry could be options to join the team in free agency, but I rather not over pay these guys at all. |
Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
I am hoping we trade anyone of value older than 30 that is not on a team-friendly deal, let Rivera get the guys he wants in FA, draft Chase young, and then BPA with whatever other picks we have. We already have a good, young, group of guys in here. Rivera has inherited a roster with a good foundation. He just needs to fill in a few glaring holes like TE, CB, and FS.

Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
I would like to see them work out a team friendly deal with Kerrigan. He would give some real depth at DE or OLB as needed. Plus he would give them options of developing some really crazy pass rush scenarios combined with Sweat and Young.

Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
Question is whether RR is looking at a 2 or 3 year cycle then set things up to maintain a level.
If he's going 2 year (this years draft and FA to get competitive, next years to show success) then he's got to patch the line up and probably get in a top TE now. On that basis I'd try and get TW back (and get his replacement in next years draft) and sort the Scherff situation out, then draft competition at RT, keeping the 2 best of the 3. But, assuming we draft Young, are you going to get a starter at RT in rd 3 or lower? If he's going for a 3 year plan, then he can leave some of the pieces in place as now, and round out the starters using next years draft, though I'd still build up the OL now to protect the QB and RB's if nothing else. He could get a serviceable TE or 2 in FA until he can draft a starter and one or even both tackles next year. Again, I'd try and get TW back to postpone the need for an LT in this draft, else maybe LT has to be an FA find. I agree on going after someone like Boston, as we can then concentrate on the other positions in the draft. We sign him to a 2 or 3 year deal and we can then hang on for maybe 2 years to draft an FS. But I think we'll only get a longer term solution at FS via the draft, a la ST, so we need to draft that guy wihtin 3 years. probably the same for starting CB (Moreland might evolve into a starter but I don't see that as nailed on). He can't fill all our gaps and make us a SB contending team in one off season (unless he gets lucky), and given the age of players already on the roster in certain positions I'd concentrate on OL now, and the rest next year. |
Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
Interesting article about the 14 UFAs Carolina has that RR might possibly be interested in vulturing.

I'm sure Rivera will bring in a couple he likes though. |
Re: Offseason Roster Moves Thread
I just hope he doesn't make the roster Carolina north. They sucked last year and I don't want a bunch of his ex players that didn't perform for him.

Yeah doesn’t sound like many of them offer much upside for us. I know Ron wasn’t a head coach when he came to Carolina from San Diego but does anyone know if he tried to pull the same trick and bring a bunch of people from SD when he went to Carolina? |
