Well, I hope is all healed up by the time he meets up with C.Griff + Salava'e.
I tell you what..

If you guys had one premier pass rushing DE to complement Arrington's pass rush abilities @ LB, your D would truly be scary

Gregg Williams has always done more with less

Re: Oh, Hell Naw! DAL beefs up LB corps

Well, honestly, I take exception to that because if you ask me our D is already scary. Would a premier rusher make it better, sure.

As far as Williams he is quite the genious, but make no mistake while most of the league may consider some of our guys on defense "no-names", I think we have 4 or 5 legitimate pro-bowlers.

lol wow. this guy is nowhere near as good as MW. all he is is an average linebacker. its not like they traded for a pro bowler or something
But Guy, beyond this season what can some of these guys add to Dallas?

Bldedsoe 13 yr. vet
Ferguson 9 yr. vet (banged up all preseason)
Rivera 10 yr. vet (same)
Price 7 year vet.

I'm just wondering if there is a small window here??
Bledsoe 33 is sign to be the starter at least for 2 season wich at his age 33 is still a good age, some examples Trent Green is 35 and still performs at a great level, Brunnell also 35, Kerry collins will be 33 this year, Dilfer 33, Favre 36, Garcia 35, Warner 34. I'm not comparing talent just that all of this players are or could be starters in this league and are at least the same age that Bledsoe or older. He ain't the long term solution but a lot better than Testaverde and we didn't had a lot of option in free agency.

Ferguson (31)was brought to be the stuffing NT for teh 3-4 defense he still a force NYJ wanted to sign him back but could match Dallas offer he has been bangup the offseason but his back from those injuries and will play in week 1 he hasn't missed a game in the last 3 years and another comparison are Sam Adams a 12year player (32), Washington has 14 years (37). Ferguson will play if everything goes in place between 3-4 seasons.

Rivera is 33 and he is i nthe age where all Lineman are in top of his game he can play 5 more season he has been to the ProBowl the last couple of years he hasn't had major injuries untill the 1 he had the offseason but his recovered and back in the starting lineup he was brought not only for hsi playmaking abilities but to be a leader in the locker room and in the offense wich has lacking that.

Price is only 29 and he sign or will sign today a 1 year deal he's goign to be evaluated this season if he preformes well he will sign a longer deal he has at least 4 more years left in him.

All of this players where brought to perform and some of them are in their top of their game some at probowl level and they're borught also to be the core of a new group of developing players you can't just have rookies or players with less than 3 years of expirience in your team.

Also when you sign a FA you need to know if he will be able to perform for more then a year or the mayority of their contract Bledso sign a 4 year deal wich is really a 3 year deal, ferguson and rivera sign a 5 year contract if they play at top of their game for 3 years they where worth.

What you don't want to sign is NAME players who are at the last end of their carrer and won't help your team and also pay large amounts of signing bonus to this player because if they don't perform your cap will be hurt and you will have to drop good young players also.

That has been some of the problems Snyder has had with your team B.Smith, D.Sanders, Brunell to say some fiascos that come to mind. Those players where payed large amount of signing bonuses and didn't perform to the level they where paid.

The differense between Brunell and Bledso is tha the only cost us 4mill to bring in so if we drop him it won't hurt our cap as much as brunell will and he's your backup.

Not tryng to trash talk just explaining the difference in the signings thats all all of this are some what healthy signing if ferguson or rivera end up being bust that will hurt us next year they received a 9mill signing bonuses but this is based on the leve they have been playing the last couple of years and that they still and should perform at that leves for a few years.

Re: Oh, Hell Naw! DAL beefs up LB corps

i wouldnt say that rivera is at the peak of his career at 33. also, just because ted washington has played till his age doesnt mean fergueson has "at least" 4 years left in him. many other factors will come into play here, especially injuries in their advancing age.

D'BOYZ 09-05-2005 11:56 AM

Re: Oh, Hell Naw! DAL beefs up LB corps

Big C if you're going to "quote" me try to do it with something I acctually said. Because if you read the post it doesn't say that "ferguson has at least 4 years left to him" I said that about Peerles Price and also said about price is that they only sign him for 1 year to see if he still has it and don't sign him for a high signing bonus he needs to prove he can replace Terry Glen or KJ next year to resign.

What I said about ferguson is that he sign a 5 year deal and that "IF" him and rivera can play at top of their game for "3" years they are worth the SB.

Re: Oh, Hell Naw! DAL beefs up LB corps

Dallas' front 7 never played 3-4 before. I doubt they "jelled" as a unit after 1 pre-season. Adding another average LB who never played 3-4 scheme isn't much of an upgrade IMO.

I think you may have slightly missed my intention here. Man how long did it take you to write all of that:)

The point I'm simply trying to make - especially with Bledsoe. He's taken a lot of hits and sacks. In fact, I think it was last year he tied for second most sacked in NFL history. Look it up. That's a lot of hits, my friend. And though he's 33 yrs old, in football years his body probably feels closer to 37-38. But no one can really answer that question better than Drew Bledsoe can.

Secondly, apart from the cap part of it - I was just stating that, again, in terms of age and time played in the NFL how many snaps does a Marco Rivera and Flozell Adams (who many in big D are not happy with), Ferguson have in them. They may come out have a fantastic season....but we'll see. Price is only 28, but at this point in his career is on the verge of being a journyman receiver?

Sept. 19 you better have your chin-straps on tight!!!
Of course he's not as intense as MW. But stats don't lie. He's sound and doesn't make a lot of mistakes. :oink:
Ifeani Ohelete always put up good stats, was he a good pick up?

Re: Oh, Hell Naw! DAL beefs up LB corps

Thxs for the apreciation my fingers are bleeding but i msure they will heal lol. Actually Bledsoe had if im accurate 37 sacks last season and has 402 sacks troughout his carreer and average of 30.9 sacks per season wich is high but not retirement high. his highest was in '99 when he had 55 his lowest was 94 with 22 (full season) the record is hold by Carr with 76 sacks in 1 season wich is just painfull to say lol.

Bret Favre has an average of 27 in his career with 1 more full year wich aint that high that's 52 more sacks than drew in average troughout his carrer Carr has a 48 sack average per season OUCH his going to be in a wheel chair in 2 more season.

Now on the other subjects yeah they have played alot of downs but they are still at top of their game now their bone don't heel as fast as it used to but agai nthey where brought for 3 season aprox now we will have to waith and see is the are bust or great moves.

uhohjimoh 09-05-2005 06:02 PM

ok fujita is an ok linebacker, but no where near MW..
who id be worried about this year or the next couple is demarcus ware....scary...

Re: Oh, Hell Naw! DAL beefs up LB corps

Basically, to put all this talk to rest, our D will be up the challenge of Dallas this year. Whoever wins this game will win the battle of turnovers and I'm sorry to say, I think Ramsey would put up more turnovers than Bledsoe (I pray otherwise though). We might sack Bledsoe 12351230 times, but it just always seems that we don't get the fumble we need. Our D will come to play and most likely stymie Dallas for a field goal or two. I think the clincher for either side will be who wins the field position game. Dallas has a defense that is full of potential, but that's all it is so far. I think we SHOULD be able to eek this one out provided Dallas's defense hasn't come together at that point in the season. If Ramsey can hold onto the ball and let Portis be the reason we win or lose (because the offensive line is where it's all at right?) I think we'll take this game against Dallas in a low scoring affair, maybe 10-6. If Ramsey plays like I pray he doesn't I could see that score easily being flipflopped.

There won't be any blowouts that night (even though I'd LOVE to see one).

I can't believe people are comparing Fujita (a guy traded for a late second day pick) to Washington (a Pro Bowler).
