Great point RedskinsPete.

If you look back when Thomas was healthy our running game was great. Once he went down........Portis' numbers went down.

Whats wrong with sticking up for the QB that took us to the playoffs for the first time in 6 years?

Granted, he had his bad games, and our defense was great, but you mean to tell me that Brunell had NOTHING to do with our success this year? You're blind man. You're just so caught up in "Ramsey has a better arm, and can move the ball better than Brunell", and you're too stubborn to realize that in reality, Brunell was the one that moved the ball downfield, made crucial plays at crucial times, and led the team to the playoffs.

Get off your high horse offiss. You're not the expert you think you are.

Portis was also dinged up for those last few weeks too. I don't think it was just a matter of Thomas being out that made the running game ineffective. But Brunell certainly wasn't able to pick up the slack either.

Very true. But you have to admit that losing Thomas was huge.

I agree with Brunell, but he was also dinged up, and I think he ran out of gas towards the end...

This was a great offensive team that had a lot of weapons it wasn't Brunell he could barely execute this offense... Everybody says he did so well.... He had Portis, Cooley, and Moss Plenty of weapons.... But every pass that was over 10 yards to Moss was a brilliant amazing catch by Moss ....all of the TD's were screens or Moss breaking it big.... What about San Diego and the Raiders when Brunell had horrible games... there were many times commentators noted ....that guy was wide open over the middle.... I saw 1 pass over the middle that was thrown deeper than 10 yard by Brunell in the last 8 games that was the Pass to Cooley Saturday......but I also saw many times Cooley was open when they needed 5 yard when Brunell couldn’t get set he had to run back 10 yards... Offiss is right if we had a descent Qb this team had enough talent with the offense to go 12-4 or even better.... Brunell did the best he could..... But that’s not enough....... Everybody said to me at work you don’t seem upset they lost Rail.... and I was but I knew before the Seattle game if we started Brunell the Skin's had a 10% chance at best to win..... You can't beat a good team especially in the playoffs scoring 10 points....... So Do I want old marshmallow armed, Gimp to be gone damn right I do....And Ramsey has proven he can take a shot and throw the ball.... But because brunell throws a great 10 yard pass and was the benefactor of a great defensive team he's god's gift to Qb’s.....read the times article about can brunell get us there....NO F_ckin WAY!!!! Keep Ramsey who knows the offense and Campbell.....

You have to judge Brunell by his entire season, not just what you saw in the past three weeks, AFTER he was injured. If doing so, you'd see Brunell is not only a capable quarterback, but the best choice.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

Is it really that difficult to throw some credit Brunell's way??

The facts are he had a very solid season and helped get the team into the playoffs with a 10-6 mark.

They way some people make it sound it's as if we won in spite of him and he only made two big plays all year.

If you aren't a fan of Brunell, fine, just admit you are biased and let's move on.

Exactly!

Could the Redskins do better with a better QB? Of course, but this is who the QB is so move on and forget about what "Ramsey could've" done.

The gimpy, marshmallow arm QB took us to the playoffs, and we should be happy about it. I can't believe we're still complaining about this.

I'm actually quite happy with Brunells performance this year. His season is the best any Washington quarterback has had in six years. I just hold the opinion that what Gibbs squeezed out of Brunell this season is the best he could possibly do. He's not going to get better and better at the age of 35(36 at the beginning of next season), as his body and ability deteriorate even more. So I don't think it's the least bit unreasonable to see what Cambell can bring to the table.

Ummm...yes.

Lets see, the first Giants game you can't blame on Brunell. It was the whole team that played like crap.

Second Giants game, Brunell got hurt. Did you watch it?

Wild Card game, we played the number 1 defense, put up 120 yds....and still WON! We won!

Who says Ramsey was a practice player he might have been ruined as u people say under Spurrier but this was gonna be his 2nd year under Gibbs..... Brunell had the benefit of the "Gibbs System" whatever meager chance Ramsey had to perform he played well so maybe your judging him too harshy also???? You see The total bad side or Ramsey and Brunell is God!!!! I know if i take this season and last brunell has played poorly in the majority of the games OVERALL.... I more than sure Patrick can do as well.... But Brunell DID lead the NFL in fumbles lost!!! good job mark..make your mark no pun intended or was there?

ramsey was an interception machine. you gotta remember that.

Re: Any update on Campbell?

Look, at some point we're gonna have to lose some games to find out if a young quarterback can play. It's very rare that a young QB comes in and takes the league by storm. Would you have given up on Peyton after his first year sucked? The impatience that runs through the NFL is driving me crazy.

Maybe the team takes a few on the chin so a kid can learn how to play at this level. This isn't a great team as is. Brunell's not getting any younger. Whether it be next season or the one after that that we find out whether or not Jason Campbell is gonna be ready, we're probably gonna have a losing season that year. The NFL is cyclical like that. But trying to put a band aid on the quarterback position doesn't build a great team. You have to let players develop, especially when it comes to quarterbacks.

Ramsey was a mistake of a lot of people who didn't give him the chance to progress. It was just "win now or get out of the way." If we treat Campbell the same way, he won't end up being different. You can't yank players in and out of the game and expect them to become great players. It just doesn't work. Look at Carr and Harrington, they've been given chance after chance, Ramsey doesn't even have half the starts they do. I bet if he did, he'd be better than each of them. However, that's all beside the point now. We need to give Campbell a shot and whenever it happens, it can't be for a few preseason games and then 1 half of football before he gets the hook.

skindogger47 01-18-2006 06:41 PM

Re: Any update on Campbell?

With our defense, we don't necessarily have to lose games to see if this guy is any good. He knows how not to lose a football game. Hand the ball to Portis. It's not like Brunell was out there dazzling us with his performances, especially the second half of the year, and we still won.
