Re: Troy Vincent is at Redskins Park today
Nothing? Last year he logged 102 tackles and 4 INTs....I do believe that may be better than anything we got going right now!
good point.... |
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
If anything, this signing will hopefully wake up the guys in the secondary into the realization that no one's job is safe.

I know, if they are willing to cut Currie Burns, no one is safe. Just kidding.....sorry to be a smart ass, I just couldn't help being a jerk. |

Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
Can't hurt. A vet who is well respected(Pres on NFLPA) can only be good for us. God knows we need something on D to spark some inspired play.

Re: Revised Thread: Redskins Sign Vincent
Last year, 4 INTs, 42 tackles, 24 assists, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 forced fumble.
He may be a bit long in the tooth, but he does seem to still have some life in him. Comparison to Sean Taylor for 2005, 54 tackles, 2 INTs, 19 assists. |
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
How DESPERATE are the Redskins. Do they think signing Troy now and having to wait a couple of weeks for him to become ready for game status has anything to do with the fact Mark still holds the ball and that the D-Line gets brushed off like dandruff flakes to offenses. This team signed him with the depseration to finish the season at 8-2 at best to make the playoffs. What a waste of $$ but what a great name player to sign. 8-2, 9-1, or 10-0 to finish the season to make the playoffs. They are treading very deep water with those numbers. What happens next year when Prison returns from injury, what will be when DOckery and STaylor need to be resigned is there $ for all this???

I hope you're not trying to say that signing Vincent is going to handcuff the Skins cap-wise. The details aren't out yet but I'm sure it's going to be a very short term and cap friendly deal. |

Playoffs? PLAYOFFS?!?! PS- Who's in prison? |
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
So, I'm hearing all this stuff about where he's going to play. Is he playing CB or SS in passing downs?
|

Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
Gotta be CB. He'll play Priloeau's spot I think. Cover Safety and nickle CB.
|
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
Or maybe come in as a FS?
|
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
He better come in as an azz-kicker!

Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
For those complaining that this seems desperate...YO, WAKE UP!! THIS TEAM IS DESPERATE!!!
This is a totally legit signing in my opinion. I am very critical of this team and its management right now, but I have no problems with this signing, it makes complete sense. We have major issues in our secondary right now and Vincent is coming off a minor injury where the Bills management screwed up and put him on Major IR, vs. minor IR. He on the down side of a great career, true, but based on his numbers last year, is still capable of making a significant contribution. I ask you why we WOULDN'T make this move? It makes too much sense any way you look at it. Don't expect miracles, but TV is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade to our existing secondary. I would expect to see him in at nickel DB and/or FS in place of AA on passing downs. It's wishful thinking, but I would LOVE to see Arch moved up to WLB/OLB, the guy can't cover anything more than a Tight end at best. |
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
I agree 100%! Right now we couldn't cover a table with a tablecloth! Bout time we made a move that makes sense! HAIL from NAshville!

Some want to spin this as the team going after another big name FA, but I've got news for you this is the team going after the best available warm body out there. Yes it's a desperate move, but there simply is not a better option out there. For those not behind this move, I ask what would you suggest we do at this point? |

NO. thats why they've been playing with white pants. |
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
may as well sign him. it may seem to be a sign of weakness and that we are panicking, which happens to be true.
all we can do is hope for the best and understand that to date, the skins just have not been a very good, call it, a bad team. here's hopin.. |
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
I don't know, I am still agaisnt this. Rather have us stick it out, instead of trying to make an unrealistic push for the playoffs by bringing in vets.

god i hate the redskins |

we got beat by the TITANS...we are playing the COLTS next. what would "sticking it out" really do? save us cap space THIS year? |
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
Start Vincent at FS and move Taylor to SS and bench Acrchuleta.
Bench f-ing skinny 265 pound Andre Carter, move Phillip Daniels back to LE and start Renaldo Wynn at RE. Problems solved. Our coach will not do it though. F! |

If you are going to play an undersized DE because he is fast and gets sacks, at least get some sacks. Andre Carter has been terrible! |
Re: Redskins Sign Vincent (MERGED)
Did you guys check out Troy Vincent.com? Sounds like a good guy. And he's 6 1" and 200... THANK GOD. WE need a big corner.

He is a saftey now. At 35 he can not play Cb full time anymore.

He's looked pretty good the last few games (notching 2 sacks in the last 3 games) and getting a number of QB pressures. Moreover, he applied pressure in the Jax game that pressure resulted in an INT. |

ok, given he does seem to get run over a lot but, he did seem like he was getting good pressure on Vince and i know that doesnt sound like much but, with our fucked up defense in general...it seems to be a glimmer of hope..... |

it said on the skins page that he'd be in on nickel and dime packages and MAYBE CB! i dont see that happening at aall....at least not full time....agreed, he is too old, but he can be a playmaker and a spark to an otherwise unmotivated defense.... |

Yeah but how many yards did he give up on the ground? I was at the Texans game and I watched him play, the guy is terrible. Big Tackles push him around. He can not hold his ground. Period. |

I like that the SKins picked him up. He will add a spark. But I think they picked him up to play safety. On obvious pass plays they can put Acrchuleta where he belongs, on the bench. |

i'm sure it would be as a part-time Nickel CB. speaking of, how come no one's commented on Ade Jimoh's awesome cameo on defense yesterday? |

his cameo? i saw him like twice and once he was pulling a teammate ( cant think of who, its all a blur) off the ground....what else did he do??

i hope thats not a claim to fame, allowing only ONE TD....that one TD is the one that mattered.......... |
