you are right. and the proof is that every team has the same amount of draft picks every year. what they do with them is up to that team.

A few things come to mind when i see this:

1) in light of the FA vs. draft discussion on this thread, we were in a loose/loose situation here. We drafted Smoot and on the draft build theory should have given him this money to stay. That would have been a mistake. Of course we replaced him with Rogers who hasn't been great either.

2)Smoot probably would have fared better ( and us too ) if he had stayed in Washington for slightly less money.

3) I would like to get him back if they dump him, at a reduced rate of course.

can someone explain to me the fred smoot love fest? he could have stayed, but the grass always looks greener... he is an average corner at best. is it because he is a good talker? or a fan favorite? maybe tafkas can expand on this

I say give Williams another year but hold him accountable. He needs to be broken down so he becomes hungry like he was in '04

When you have 1 average to above average corner and the rest are below average. Average looks pretty good...

Top 10 defense two years in a row and an injury-plagued horrible defense in the third season. Sorry, I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt for another season.

Knock him off his high horse?

He'd have 10 job offers in one day!

We can't on one hand criticize the franchise for not being stable, then in the next breath demand they fire one of the best defensive coaches in the league for one off season.

Who do you bring in that will do better?

i don't mean take his job, i think you need to make him work for his money, which clearly he isn't doing.

there are better defensive coaches then williams, namely the 31 defensive coaches that have a better defense then him right now!

i want saunders to be our next head coach, and see what his offense is really about

I wouldn't go as far to say we should let GW go, but I would like to see him temper his arrogance a little. I don't want to see him loose the respect of his players. They don't have to like him as long as they play hard, and they (meaning both coach and player) maintain respect for each other. It wouldn't hurt of course if he had a few more gifted players. A coach is no better than the players he has to work with.
