Moss and Portis are givens.

Let's look at Betts -- more rushing yards than the following guys: McGahee, Kevin Jones, Cadillac Williams, DeShaun Foster, etc... with a 4.7 ypc average. On pace for a thousand yard season despite not even starting in 7 games. Talent? Check.

Chris Cooley -- 9th among all TE's in yardage this year, 6th in TD catches. Better yards per catch than Gonzo and Gates. And he's having an "off" year. Talent? Check.

Rock Cartwright -- #4 in the league in return yards this season, already broke 1000, one of only two guys this season to have 100 yard returns, one of only 5 guys this season to score kickoff return TD's. Talent? Check.

On the defense, the entire unit is underachieving, but you've got a 100+ tackle guy in MWash who is having easily one of his worst years ever, but Sean Taylor is tied for second in tackles among all safeties, and sad luck Carlos Rogers is only a couple of tackles below Champ Frickin Bailey this season, 7th among all CB's. Obviously he's got no INT's because he apparently can't catch them this year, but surely all these guys are talented.

I'll leave the obvious QB and line positions alone, since they're likely to inspire violence, and quite frankly, there isn't enough evidence to prove the talent level there. But, we've allowed just 17 sacks this season, for ~130 yards, which is not bad at all.

Where we DO have problems is in penalties, poor clock management, missed opportunities in playcalling, and a lot of other things that don't show up on the stat sheet, but are symptomatic of a team without solid chemistry and leadership, and that will come if we can stop screwing around with the team every year.

You had me going until you brought up Rogers. He gets all those tackles because teams pick on him. In fact, he's probably a big part of the reason that Taylor has as many tackles as he does. Likewise, Champ's numbers are usually lower than you'd expect because teams [B]don't[/B] throw the ball near him. He has 6 INTs this season on God only knows how many chances.
I wish Rogers was half as good as Champ.

Lloyd, Randle El, Archuleta, and Carter were the only major additions at pivotal positions. The rest of these guys have had about as much playing time as most teams get. How many seasons do they need?

.... TALENT, TALENT, TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They need to play together for more than a few years to get good and gel. We were damn close last year but then staffing changes were made and we moved around a lot of players. This season was a learning experience and they WILL learn from it. HAIL!

As I've said on a number of occasions, when it comes to comparing players I rely on stats, rather than anecdotal or emotional evaluations. Probably due to playing too much FF. That said, I also (thought?) I said that Carlos was having a pretty bad year, and you would expect a decent NFL CB to have a decent number of INT's. We've seen Carlos have at least 2 or 3 sure picks he dropped this year, sometimes you just get into a mental rut and bad things happen repeatedly. If he makes those plays, I think we have a much different opinion of the guy. Ed Reed gets beat a lot in coverage, but when he makes the big play all is forgiven.

And I certainly wasn't trying to say Carlos is as good as Champ, just pointing out that he IS talented, just playing really poorly this year. But who on the defense isn't?

I don't know about you guys, but I am much more excited about the offense. On 3rd and 10 we aren't throwing screens or dumps. JC looks downfield. We need a guy like this. Give him some time and we'll all be surprised on where we will go.
You point me to a good team and I'll point you to a leader QB. When the QB sucks, the team usually sucks. (see Grossman first half of season, Grossman 2nd half of season) Campbell will be a good QB for us!


Just food for thought, all you people that are annoyed with some threads like this one, here's a thought, STOP POSTING ON IT. A long time ago, Howard Stern said, if you don't like what I have to say, stop listening. It's the only good thing he's ever done. I followed his advice and haven't listened since. I follow that theory in this forum as well. If it does not have any good thoughts in it, or I do not agree with it, I don't partake.
