I guarantee that we will start the season 4-2 or better.

Re: Your 2007 Redskins guarantee

I think 8-8 is a reasonable expectation for this team...It is going to be a lot prettier than last year, but I still think they lose the close games.

This is a great thread!

Honestly this is a very important year for Joe Gibbs and Greg Williams. In cliche talk perhaps "do or die" for both coaches. I do hope reguardless of what happens this season both will be with us for atleast the following season. I'd like to see Gibbs here thru his 5 years. That said my guarantee is Gibbs and team make the playoffs. Gibbs comes back for his 5th and final year the following season with Greg Williams and Al Saunders as well.

I guarantee we will finally get to see the Al saunders offense and the Greg Wiliams defense that we expected to se last year.
Fedex isn't squat compared to RFK. RFK had the rabid fans, the stadium literally rocked and was extremely, extremely hard to win in. Fedex is just big, it reminds me of the Big House in MI. Michigan fans are rather lame and not really rabid football fans. For a stadium 100,000+ it isn't all that loud as say Ohio Stadium or LSU's stadium. Not knocking the Fedex crowd per say, but the RFK days had REAL Fans packing the house, screaming their heads off, while now you have the "casual" fan taking over the stadiums. Casual meaning not really into the game, but just there to party or something to do. I know Fedex can get loud, but with 90,000+ it should be deafening, especially with divisional games. This is not just Fedex, but everywhere, and not only in the NFL. The NBA is horrible that way. Last few times I have been to the Palace to see the Pistons you see a bunh of Oakland Co yuppies getting sloshed, paying little attention to the game.
When you have 93,000 people you are going to have some who are not into the game. However, there have been times during the last couple of years where FedEx was a great home environment.

No one is going to mistake it for RFK but the last couple of Cowboys games have probably been as loud as any stadium in the league.
So you'd argue that a genius DC could win with both of them?
Would you also argue that had Springs been healthy and Rocky started the whole season we wouldn't have been better? By your argument, teams shouldn't trade specific players, they should just trade whole defenses since it's all about scheme.
I dont think the DC would need to be a genius but I do think that had the schemes been better suited to the talent they might have won a few more games last year.

Springs being out made a big difference last season. I think had those players been healthy the scheme would have fit better.

Its not all about players or all about scheme. Its a mix of both that the organization has to get correct. I would say that a really smart organization would not have signed AA in the first place (especially at that $ level) because they would have recognized he did not fit into the scheme.

How young do you think shawn springs is? maybe steroids will get him through two more seasons

Re: Your 2007 Redskins guarantee

Here's my 2 cents:

Skins will go 10-6 as the defense improves greatly and the offense grows along with Jason Campbell, but there are some rough learning games. Brunell will only be inserted if injury occurs as Gibbs puts his trust with JC.

Shawn Springs will get injured again and that will be his last game in a Skins uniform as his cap number will make him expendable. In his place Fred Smoot returns to form and is considered a great pickup for the Skins.

Brandon Llyod will continue his lackluster production and will be a cap cut next offseason. Moss will return to form and put up nice numbers. The Skins will than use one of their first day picks on a reciever hoping he can take pressure off Moss.

The Defensive line will be ok with Carter and Griffin providing solid play. Either Goldston or Montgomery will emerge as a player the Skins can pencil in as a starter for years to come. In the offseason Daniels and Wynn will both be gone due to the cap hits.

Suisam and Frost will provide stability in the kicking game and this will add a win or two to the season.

One of the offensive lineman starters will go down to injury as last season's good health is abnormal in the NFL these days. If one of the tackles go down Wade will take over the Tackle spot with Whittaker surprising many replacing Wade at Guard. If one of the guards go down Whittaker will replace him directly and do a good job.

Portis will return to form and make a lot of people say Ladell who.

Finally, in the offseason Art Monk will finally be admitted to the Hall of Fame.

I like everything, including seeing most of it coming true...except Brandon Lloyd. I really see him breaking out this year. I think We'll see around a 1000 yard season from him. I know that might be a stretch, but this kid is talented, and from everything I have read, his mind is right this year. I also thinks he knows that if he can't make it here, he won't be given a chance anywhere else either. He will step it up. I guarentee it.

I hope you are right. If that is the case than I see the Redskins using a first day pick on a defensive lineman (end over tackle).

Also I forgot to mention in the previous post that Chris Cooley will be resigned to a long term deal and Sean Taylor will want a new contract which the Skins will grant (although I think they may have another cap cut or two along with more restructing but that is almost a given!)

I hope I am too. It would be a waste of talent otherwise.

I guarantee that the Redskins will punish their opponents physically regardless of the score. One of the reasons I love Gibbs so much is that he understands that football always comes down, in the end, to putting the other guy on his ass. That's the key you have to look for, especially in division games. Who's the bug and who's the windshield?

Don't worry, the Steelers are NOT going. They have a whole new coach, which will cause problems. Minus Chucky in Tampa, that doesn't happen.

Redskins sure, but no way in hell steelers. It is going to be tough to replace cowher, and roethlisberger is overrated.
Their defense is going to suffer, and they will be average on offense. 8-8 at best for them.
Like the NFC representitive though!
