Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
Guys, our injuries are going to ultimately be the downfall of our season and we will watch the Cowboys, ride off to the playoffs. McCardell means Moss is really hurt. First Jason, then Thomas, now Moss.... sounds like last year. If the Skins don't put 40 points on the board this week against the Lions, we lose. No more close to the vest Gibbs, air it our and play fast this week.

Isn't his hamstring hurt from the Giants game? Why else would we be signing another receiver. We only have 2 that catch passes right now anyway.... Thrash is a decoy and Lloyd can't even get in the game. Reche Caldwell is not up to speed, so why are we signing ANOTHER WR? I really question our front office. |
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
Just read the news, the funny little tid bit that I didn't know is McCardell has a super bowl ring with the Skins, I did not know that.
From the article- McCardell, 37, has a Super Bowl ring from the Redskins. He was chosen by Washington in the 12th round of the 1991 draft and spent his rookie season on the injured reserve list while the Redskins won the NFL title. |

I know as a team, you dont want to "show your cards" before a game..but if Moss's injury is that serious.... again as I posted earlier....they are NOT listing it on the injury report @ Redskins.com Now why is that? Maybe because he IS NOT as injured as everyone is suggesting. Maybe bringing in McCardell is just a future precaution. |
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
Or MAYBE it's because our slot receivers are shit right now...
|
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
this guy is a lot better than caldwell at least

If you notice most of the time the injury list is not up dated until like tuesday or wednesday of the week and with us having a buy maybe we did not have to post it if he was injured until like tues or wed. of this week. I was just asking because people were posting like it was a fact when I would say that they are assuming. |

Wasn't Caldwell the leading receiver last year for the Pats? I know some of that is Brady but he's still gotta be pretty good right?? Either way, adding McCardell has me worried....and looks like I'm not alone. |

Worried about what? Lloyd is out. Caldwell and McCardell was a good signing. Not only was Caldwell a Patriot, but was the leading receiver last year. |
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
That Moss has a really bad injury. I remember reading this article in the Post about Lloyd being recommitted this year and giving it everything he's got...what happened to all that?? Is he simply just a bitch in practice or something...he obviously has talent so it's got to be his mouth that's keeping him off the field.

Is Lloyd hurt? I didn't even know that...or are you saying he's "out of the lineup due to performance issues"? This signing makes me nervous cause it means to me that we are pressing the panic button in terms of WR. However, I understand our depth sucks, and McCardell is a class act. I do like the signing a lot, just worried we are in more trouble than anyone is letting on. |
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
You gotta ask yourself, how many winning teams sign someone off the free agent list after the season starts to be thier 3rd wr??? (we now have done it twice)

Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
i am almost certain moss wont play this week. this is a big game for us. we need to score points v.s the Lions cause the will score some points. we need all of our corners healthy and need taylor and landry at the top of there game. cause lions are very pass happy. if moss is out i hope lloyd gets some more snaps and hope he can make some plays. this situation is hard to figure out. he hasnt complained to the media or made selfish comments so far. we have another archeluta situation brewing again

Man, I hope not...he's listed as questionable right now, but I am holding out hope that the extra week will help him...he is a trooper and knows we need him badly this week! |
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
Hogs.net had some inside info on Moss. The reporter for the Post has heard from Redskins officials that Moss will definitely be out for a while (beyond the Detroit game). That said, I'm somewhat optimistic about our passing game. ARL is totally solid, all the way through the season, count on it. Caldwell has something to prove because NE cut him after leading the team in receptions. That's especially harsh because Belichick has always been known for the best intuition at trading washed up players at just the right time. It would really surprise me if Caldwell doesn't fight for every inch and really provide a lift. However, I don't think he should start right away. Thrash needs to start. We need the guy w/ the best hands in their right now (think of all the drops passes up to this pt.) and Thrash is the guy. Plus, like Gibbs says nobody works harder than Thrash. If he starts its a good sign, then Caldwell will get worked in. At this pt., fuck Lloyd. That guy doesn't fight for anything let alone every inch. That intercepted pass from Campbell in week 1 was 100% on Lloyd. Not saying he should have caught it but he damn well could have broken up the int by fighting for the ball. His career should be over.

Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
Wahoo, another mediocre WR! I am licking my chops for when Justin Cribbs gets released. Shortest and worst WR corps. in the NFL.
|
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
If Moss is out by the way, it looks like Thrash will get the nod (per the Washington Post)
The Redskins' primary starting receiver designations are the "Z" -- a position Moss plays that involves lots of shifting, multiple formations and more varied routes -- and "X" -- Randle El's starting spot that is primarily a split end with more vertical routes. Al Saunders, associate head coach, said that if Moss cannot play -- which he thought unlikely -- then "the guy that would step in there would be James Thrash." Randle El also will get some practice work at the "Z" this week, while Lloyd is primarily an "X" and Caldwell began to get practice work at the "Z" last week. "The easiest position to learn is 'X,' with less variations," Saunders said. "So usually when guys first come in they start at 'X' and [we] get him comfortable, and then give some exposure to 'Z.' "
|
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
I hope McCardell sees action. Whoever sees action I hope makes more action and helps us beat the Lions! We cannot lose this game!
|
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
This is a game which will be key as far as a wild card spot goes.

You gotta be kidding me. Lloyd must really be a joke of a football player if he can't crack the line-up if Moss is out. Why don't they just cut the guy? I guess they can't for cap reasons?? |

He couldn't even make the Texans and SD cut him too. Both of those teams stink at WR. So I'm not sure I want him on the field. We should just put ARE at QB and run the wishbone. |
Re: Rumor: Redskins sign Keenan McCardell
Time to remove "Rumor" from the thread title
|
Re: Redskins Sign Keenan McCardell
Good news. Taylor Jacobs was cut today by the Niners so we can go after him too!

We should just put ARE at QB and run the wishbone.
LOL...you're using those two as examples? You'd rather have those jokes of WR's in Houston than McCardell...or you would rather take the word of a guy that fired a hall of fame coach after going 14-2 and losing by a field goal to a GREAT team in the playoffs, to hire a coach that has NEVER produced as a head coach? Keep in mind, everyone passed on Preist Holmes before he landed in KC and had some of the best seasons of all time. Everyone passed on Tom Brady saying his arm was weak and fell to the 6th round, and look at him. Stories like this happen all the time. So you should NEVER take someone elses word for it. Don't think he's gonna come in and have a 1000 yard season. He won't. He's here for mentoring and he's here to provide leadership and consistancy on the field. The rest is gravy. |

I bet Moss is out and ARE and McCardell will start. Or ARE and Thrash start, and McCardell is in the 3 WR sets. B Lloyd gets to watch from the bench as usual! |
Re: Redskins Sign Keenan McCardell
mccardell is a proven WR that can catch the ball.............caldwell is not that
|
Re: Redskins Sign Keenan McCardell
in his wheelchair he better than lloyd. We need to cut lloyd and brunell.
|
Re: Redskins Sign Keenan McCardell
I'd be very surprised if Caldwell didn't see some sort of action...especially considering he is younger (so he could stay with the team longer than McCardell) and more importantly he was cut b/c the Patriots upgraded their talent at the receiver spot, not because of non-production, injury, or age. Plus, he has been with the team for a few weeks so one would think he has familiarized himself with the playbook and nuances of the Al Saunders offense. Btw, do you guys think that based on JC's performance at the end of the last game and with a few more WR's, Saunders will take the reins off of JC so he can cut loose in the passing game. Detroit would be the perfect team to do that against.
