Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
Because our secret is out. Our offense is now so transparent. It got absolutely shut down two weeks in a row by the Cardinals and Patriots. We scored 21 on the Cards, but that's only because Warner turned it over and gave us a short field. Hell, one of those TDs was a defensive TD. Both teams applied blitz pressure up the middle and chased Campbell out of the pocket as an unhealthy Rabach and Fabini can't hold up in there. We only run to one side of the field, which makes us so much easier to defend. I still like our defense, even with Rogers hurt, so we'll be in games. But we're going to struggle to score.
Good post, and I am sure the coaches know that. Real question is can we do anything significant to our offense? Especially with the Oline injuries. |
Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
Yes we did beat them. Barely. McNabb missed a wide open Curtis on the goaline that would have tied the game. McNabb played terrible. It looks like he is coming around and is getting healthy. I would not expect him to play that bad again. When Philly comes down here it's going to go down to the wire.
Why should the Eagles get some credit for barely losing to some teams, while we don't get credit for beating the Eagles by more than a touchdown. And, McNabb didn't miss a wide open Curtis on the goaline. Curtis got his ass handed to him by Laron Landry. Moreover, even if Curtis had caught that ball, it would not have been a tied game. Curtis was hit by Landry at the 3 yard line, not in the end zone. Even assuming McNabb got the ball back and scored a TD, they would have had to convert for 2 to tie the game. But, I think you are right and when Philly comes to D.C., it is going to be a good, close game. In fact Philly could beat us (on any given Sunday). But, I still don't think they are a good team. |
Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
So I told a friend of mine that the Redskins were going to the playoffs. He laughed, so I challenged him to a bet. If we go, I get to shave his head into a mohawk. If we don't go, he gets to shave my head in whatever fashion he so pleases. Keep in mind, we're lawyers and clients do not want to see their counsel wearing a mohawk.

Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
I said yes, but that all depends on the next two weeks. If we don't win the next two weeks I am going to change to NO. But I truely beleive we will win the next two weeks.

I think that, sadly, we will lose one of the next two games. We should win both, but nothing is guaranteed. But, we will likely win a game or two we shouldn't win. |
Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
Certainly if they play Collins and let Al run the offense
If ever get a chance to play fantasy, look at the qb before you pick a wide receiver Moss and Welker play with a qb
I understand why there is a lot of gloom and doom sentiment around here. I would have to be a blind optimist to think that we don't have some serious problems. The running game is the worst we've seen in years, the passing game has sputtered, we've lost Jansen and Rogers for the season, Thomas might not come back until mid-December, we barely beat Miami and Arizona, and we got demolished by the Patriots. With all that being said, I strongly believe that this team will make the playoffs and here is why. Yes, the defense got demolished by the Patriots, but what defense wouldn't? The defense is stout and, with the emergence of Rocky McIntosh and the additions of guys like Laron Landry, London Fletcher, and even David Macklin, this defense will return to form next week. The offensive line is really banged up, but I cannot help but think that time itself and Buges' coaching up will help improve things (even if the O-line doesn't become a source of strength). Portis, Moss and Betts, IMO, are not the Hall of Famers we want them to be, but they are too good to continue playing like they have. Does anyone really think Portis, Moss, and Betts can play any worse? Jason Campbell is young and has just 14 starts under his belt and should improve with time. Finally, after this Sunday we should be 5-3 in a weak NFC with a schedule that isn't a cakewalk, but isn't exactly tough. So, my question to you is, will the Redskins make the playoffs this season?
|
Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
Yes.
That makes 59 real fans...40 who need to find a new team and 8 Patriots fans. :D |

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Don't worry, you'll win this one. |
Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in Dallas,
we shall fight on the grass and on the turf, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Stadium , whatever the cost may be, we shall fight against the Giants , we shall fight against Da Bears, we shall fight in the New Sombrero and in the Meadowlands, we shall fight in the Metrodome; we shall never surrender! So yea, like I said earlier were going to the playoffs. |
Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
I'm in shock after last weeks game. I have never seen a Redskin team look so helpless and lost in my entire life............
I voted yes but have to do some serious thinking about this team............ |
Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
I voted no as of right now. 10-6 and we are probably in. I'm not sure we can win 6 more games. Besides believing that the skins will win every week, i've got to look at our team from an unbiased point of view. Are we better than the boys and gmen in our own division? No, not right now. Are we that much better than the eagles? No.
We can't score points. We can't win w/out scoring points. I can go on about our D and how much they are improved, which is true, but our offense leaves them on the field too long. We do have a good chance but it's hard for me to say yes right now. We need to get the O fixed immediately. |
They can't score on offense, their defense isn't good, they've got a losing record, and I just don't think they are a good team anymore. I do not necessarily think they are a bad team (I overstated things), but they are not a good team.
But, if as you say, Philly is not a bad team that has had tough losses, why do you think that we won't make the playoffs? After all, we have a winning record, we beat the Eagles (a supposedly average team) by more than a touchdown, we had two tough losses, and we got blown out or beaten badly in just one game against the best team in the league.
Let's just throw out who we have to play and focus on our team. Just by watching the last three games I can see in the teams play that we are just not good enough. We have a good, but not great defense and a bad offense and a somewhat shaky and unproven kicker. That does not = a playoff team to me. And even if we somehow sneak in it's going to be one and done. |
Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
We will make the playoffs......even if it's with a wildcard.

Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
So how can you be so sure we are going to even make it to 9-7?? We have to play Dallas twice. That could very well be two L's.
Well, we are a better than average football team, so we deserve to make it to 9 wins. With a little luck, we can get 11.
Deserving only gets you so fair, but I can't predict as to have an unfair world. |

Their record is average. They've scored more points than they've given up. They have a really good offense (not sure what you mean by "can't score" as they average 20 pts per game. That's league average, and they are way more efficient that that to make up for a bend but dont break D) and a "meh" defense. That's better than average, is it not? They have been pretty bad in the red zone, but historically McNabb has been a good Red Zone passer, so I would expect that trend to stop. I think we are a better team than Philly, but their skill and ours seem to be right in the same area. |

If you don't root for your team to win EVERY week, even if they're 0-15 and playing the defending Super Bowl champs who need a win to make the playoffs...if you're predicting a loss and have no confidence in them, you're not as much of a fan as you think. Sure the Jets suck and they don't have much of a chance this week, but the people who really love their team are coming to the game or sitting on their couch with their jerseys and are anxious to see a win. I did the same last week, despite the reality of records and stats and will do it every week until I die because I am a Redskins fan no matter how good or bad they are. Sometimes our team will pull out upsets and I and other Skins fans will be jumping up and down, glad we had the faith in our guys to do it, while some pessimists will have to say "glad they won, but I wasn't behind them all the way." I love stats and numbers, it's actually what I do for a living. I can post plenty of stats and make great points with them, but come Sunday, none of them matter to be because I'm behind my team no matter what numbers, Las Vegas or the media says. Sorry if you can't say the same. |

I'm saying yes because I'm a fan.
However (here comes the ass-covering caveat), if Clinton Portis and the offensive line on't pull their collective heads out of their collective backsides and start running the damn ball with some ferocity, we will be lucky to win 3 more games. I say they will do it starting Sunday. |

I'm guessing Schneed was also picking the Bills to win SB XXVI (hey...numbers from Vegas don't lie!) and turned the game off after Denver went up 10-0 in SB XXII. :D
Let's not even bring up our 6-0 run at the end of 2005. It's years like 2005 that prove my point of it paying off to stay behind your team when standings and everyone in the world has said they're dead. The celebration at the end is so much sweeter when you're not a fairweather fan. :) |

Re: Will the Redskins Make the Playoffs
I say no. While Gibbs first run was exceptional with innovative play calling and, more importantly, halftime adjustments, I just have no faith in his abilities this time around. We all got caught up when the man returned, but now its different. He has a HUGE coaching staff, that is highly overpaid. He no longer makes the halftime adjustments, rather we go into turtle mode when we have a lead. His clock management has been dreadful. I will watch every snap of every game, and I'll scream my head off, but I no longer have faith in Joe Gibbs, and believe me it hurts to say that.
