I know this is a stretch...but I'm pretty confident that my source here is reliable.

I know someone (an orthopedic surgeon) who knew the guy working on Lavar's knee.

He said there was virtually no chance of him making a comeback, and that if he did, he wouldn't be close to the player he was in his prime. He's gone. Please give up...

And I knew a guy who had a kidney disease but still ended up playing through it in the NBA. Alonzo Mourning..

Heck there were tons of people who overcame injuries and adversity to make an impact in sports.

Lavar's best chance of contributing to the franchise in the future is to feed the fans some good grub.

Best of luck in the restaurant business, Lavar. Hopefully you'll handle yourself differently than you did as a football player, or those health inspectors you defy (coaches) will get you shut down and locked up. :)

If you really want proof get on the Capital beltway (495) and go to the Rt 50 exit ....and over on the lefthand side of the road you'll see were Lavar left the rest of whatever good knees he had after crashing his motorcycle last spring.His knees are bad ,he tore his achilles tendon and mess up what was left of both legs in an accident.................fact!!!:smashfrea

It's just highly improbable, and for the sake of logical argument.... It's not even worth discussing. He's proven well beyond reasonable doubt that he can no longer perform at the pro level.

When (I can't believe I'm still putting effort into a Lavar thread... but I digress) a player who's sole strength was that he was a physical freak of nature... it leaves you with weaknesses. He would leap over offensive lines. He would terrorize you with his athleticism. It made you cringe to watch him fly across the field and hit with the kind of passion that you rarely see. He was the total package physically, and therein lies his flaw.

He's been called virtually uncoachable by incredibly respected head coaches. He's thrown Joe Gibbs under the bus. He's ostracized himself from the entire Redskins organization. He's never fully grasped an NFL scheme mentally... and always has been known as a free lancer. My point here Redkinz79 is that while your right that by some freak miracle healing he could come back to compete; He will never... ever, ever be in anywhere near the shape he was in his prime.

He will not be the predator. He will be a mediocre (at the very best) linebacker that makes slow reads... and no longer has the freakish physical abilities to compensate for them.

Can you argue that Lavar might come back? Sure...

But to even hint at the fact that he could somehow play a role comparable to his first stint is insane. His strengths are plagued by injuries, and it's as if his brilliance physically caused any football smarts he had to atrophy, because he just didn't need them... until now.

So please... for the love of God... let's not bring up Lavar ever again.

Most of the guys you mentioned in your post fully recovered, physically. Those that didn't (Mourning, for instance), never regained their prior form. LaVar's knees will never recover - he has no cartilage in his right knee. It is a fact.

...and another thing, LeVar was one of my favorite players. I wish the defensive coaching staff had treated him better because I saw a lot of long runs being made while LeVar was left on the bench. I also remember him as a playmaker, and he knocked a well-known Dallas QB into the broadcasting booth. He was drafted just before LT Chris Samuels, and when somebody comes tearing into Jason Campbell because Samuels missed his block, do the same people that are down on Arrington criticize Samuels for letting his man beat him and tear into our QB?

That's kind of the point.:) The body does not regenerate knee cartilage, therefore, over the past 2 years, Lavar's condition could not in any way have significantly improved itself. Especially considering the fact that he has been nursing *other* injuries (Achilles, broken bones, obesity, etc). He's done.

I really don't know why some people have such a love affair with Lavar. He was a good player for a few years. He was a bright spot on some bad teams. He played without fear, and his body is now paying for it. He's probably a good, likable guy off the field, but there has been absolutely nothing reported that could lead any logical person to believe he can become a force again. You're right, anything is possible, but the evidence just isn't leading us to that conclusion at this point.

Lavar & agents signed a contract, then said it was short $6.5 mil. It's well know that Synder hates his agents, the Poston Brothers, who btw, one was suspended by the nflpa last year.

From there it was all downhill. While I loved Lavar here, please don't buy the hype that he was a great player. He was a great athlete, big difference.

Quality LB's since/during LeVar:

Pierce
Marshall
McIntosh
Washington

It pains me to admit it, but Piece was nasty under Williams' system; Arrington lost his starting job to Lemar Marshall, McIntosh is starting to grow and misses tackles far less than Arrington did, and Marcus Washington has been a steady force.

Yes, Arrington could turn a game around with a single hit, but if he had any idea what his assignment was on half the plays it would be a surprise, and that was a far greater detriment than his hitting ability was an asset.

The point is, he is far from our only quality LB since he left. During his last season here, and in the years since, the Skins' linebacking corp has been, for the most part, tough, talented, and dependable. Arrington was only talented.
