We could have used Reche Caldwell, he proved to be a pretty good WR in NE, we also could have used James Thrash he played really well when he was on the field, and another option could have been Todd Pinkston who we cut in the preseason, when he played against us in Philly he wasn't too bad.

i still like the idea of trading for Roy Williams. Usually drafting a Wr in the first round doest merrit success. Trading a Second for Roy would be a much better option then drafting a Hardy with our first overall.

Why not just wait until next offseason when Williams is an unrestricted free agent?

I think it would be better if we just traded for him now, because we could just wait until the end of the year and see how he performed and based on the way he performed we either cut him, or resign him.

If we trade for him we would have first chance to sign him to a longer contract, If we waited till next year in free agency, we would have to outbid other teams for his services. Plus why wait to win when we could use him now.
