Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
What a way to finish! The GREAT 8 is UNSTOPPABLE! If thats LUCK......the rest of the league better hope they are LUCKY enough to not play this team, in WHICH I FIRMLY believe will be in the playoffs, and by the way we are tired for the 7/8th spot NOW!
This is the hottest team in the NHL RIGHT NOW! The GREAT 8...... KUDOS, great record breaking performance! One more time Saturday night......LETS KEEP ROLLING....just another FLA. team in the way. Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
What a beatdown! Shoulda been 5-1. That goal they disallowed for the phantom "interference" was bullshit. Go CAPS!
Ovie with the most goals EVER by a left winger. Hell yeah. Can't say enough about Huet either. What a stud. |
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Its a good time to be a Washington DC sports fan. The Skins made the playoffs last year and now the Caps are in contention to make it to the playoffs.
I gotta a question for my fellow washingtonians....when was the last time that the Skins, Wizards, and Caps made the playoffs in the same year? Granted, I know we shouldn't count the Skins because they made it in 07, but still......I'm loving this right now. We had G-Town, GMU, and American U make the NCAA tournament and now we have the Caps close to making the playoffs and the Nats are 3-1!!! |
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Nats should be 4-0
But to answer your question...it's been too long |
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
That's true...I know I don't want my Bruins to face the Pens. I know we don't "really" have a shot, but you never know...hey the Giants won the Super Bowl, anything is possible!!!! (except of course the Wizards beating the Celtics in the eastern conference! hahaha)
Hey, hey, hey, now I know that Boston is in fact the best team in the Eastern Conference but they haven't dominated the Wizards all season long, it's been a good series so far and if Boston and the Wiz met in the playoffs I don't think it would be a quick sweep. I'm far more worried about facing the Cavs in the playoffs, they have always had our number there and if we want to be a great team we gotta be able to compete with them. I'm not trying to get offtopic here though so w/e. And great game by the Caps tonight, we came out strong in the first and there wasn't much happening in the second, but Ovie and the crew stepped up in the third to seal the win for us. All we gotta do is beat the Panthers and get a little help from either Philly/Boston/Carolina and we'll be in. I have to say I really hope Boston loses tomorrow night so we can take the 7th seed, that would be great because we wouldn't have to play the Pens in the first round. |

If the Cans LOSS tonight. We WIN Saturday, we take the Southeast title....go Panthers tonight in NC. |

GO PENS!!! |
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
lolol I'm not afraid to face the Pens, I just don't like our chances against the Pens. I'm not gonna make excuses but I do think next year having Boudreau for a full season will give the Caps a much better record and we wouldn't have to worry about facing you guys. I'll admit, the Pens are a better team than the Caps, but right now the Caps have a lot of momentum on their side.
Still though my dream scenario would be the Caps getting in the playoffs in the 7 or 3 seed, and then have Philly make it as the 8th seed, and hopefully Philly would be able to beat Pitt in the first round so we wouldn't have to worry about them. Personally I think there's very few teams right now that the Caps wouldn't like to face, but the Pens are one of those teams. |
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Ok, I am not a pens fan at all (note the Bruins comment), nor do I care about the Caps, however, didn't the Pens do almost the same as the caps but without their SUPERSTUD Crosby?
Without Crosby, but with Malkin, who happens to be the 2nd in points in the League right now. The Pens have incredible talent (8588 - stop saying Malkin is underrated...), but the Caps are playing the same level of hockey with what the critics and experts consider inferior talent. The Caps poured it on last night. The interference call was pretty bad, but in the end, 2 from Ovie and the Caps won nonetheless. Huet had a stellar game after giving up that early goal. Things are moving along. One more win... |
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Ok maybe he isn't all that underrated but when you have a talent like Crosby that can score on a goalie by shooting between his legs I just think that people tend to forget how good Malkin really is. Also, just to let everyone here know I am a PENS fan but I only really watch hockey when they make the playoffs, so all of this talk is in just fun. I really can't comment on many if any players in the NHL other than Crosby and Malkin... But I do think that the PENS are gonna be tough to beat espically now that Malkin and Crosby are back and healthy

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
So Carolina did its job tonight and lost. Win and in now for the Caps. Huge gam coming up against Fla.
|
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread

Its ALL on us, we control our own destiny we WIN tomorrow night against these same Panthers we win the Southeast division title! HELL YEA! One more time Caps. I'll be there for the show. Lets GO CAPITALS!!!!!!!!! |

yes, huge game. not only will the caps be in the playoffs with a victory tomarrow night but they'll also be the #3 seed and winners of the south east division. go caps!! |
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Man, I was so mad when I got home tonight, turned on the tv to see the game scores, and the first thing I saw was that the Flyers beat the Devils and secured a playoff spot. Then I saw Boston beat Ottawa as well and I was like F!@% lol, our chances came down to Florida winning a game at a place where they haven't won in 6 years. But god I am so happy now lol, thanks to Carolina we can win and still have the 3 seed. It's in our own hands now, win and we get the division title and the 3 seed.

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Biggest game of the season (again). Feels like the end of the skins season where every game means something. Sure shows what coming out strong in the beginning of the season will do for you. Final Four whats that? This is Capitals hockey! Go Caps.
|
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Flyers are in and thats all that matters. Canes look week and Caps look solid.
|
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
caps win. they're in the playoffs, they win the southeast crown and they have home ice wed. night for the 1st round. congrats to the entire caps organization. man who would have thought at mid season, when they were in 14th place, that they would win the division.

Don't get ahead of yourselves just yet, you will have to play the PENS at some point and that is when if the caps can past the first round... |

the pens are a good team, no doubt about that but the caps are playing the best hockey of any team right now. hopefully the caps win the first round and the pens lose. i hate all teams from pittsburg |

Hats off to mah boys...
Great run by the Caps! It's not over yet... |

I agree for the most part about the Pittsburgh comment, the PENS are the only good thing to come out of Pittsburgh. Just remember, like it was mentioned earlier in this thread, the PENS were not at full strength until recently when SID THE KID came back healthy and the PENS won there division without him. So now they only got that much better when Crosby came back... For the first time in like 10 years I am pretty excited about watching the NHL playoffs this year... |
Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Yep, excellent work to make the playoffs. They have to be one of the hottest teams entering the playoffs. Im so excited and happy for them and hope that they can make some noise. Ill be watching...GO CAPS.

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
Folks just got home from the game, that three hour cruise felt like 15 minutes......YEA HA! How bout them SOUTHEAST CHAMPS!
We had VIP's to the Dewar 12 club at Verizon GREAT start to a awesome night! There was NO WAY this team was going to loss tonight PERIOD, to much heart and NO quit. This is a very dangerous team taking the #3 seed heading into the playoffs. I have been to countless Caps games over the years....never made a game during the Cup run against Detroit though. But this was by far the best game I've ever been to, Verizon was electric....you knew from the moment they dropped the puck they where on a mission to win this game no ands, ifs or buts about it and NOBODY was going to ruin that mission. I'm so proud of this Capitals team......it took me back to last season sitting in the stands at FedEx on the cold and rainy evening December 30 when our Skins had to WIN to get in OR need help. Which wasn't quite the case tonight, the Caps due or die status Win and in or break out the golf clubs....but close enough. I'm jacked up about this years playoff birth and how hard they had to work to get in and for the future of the team which is very bright, (Don't know about this year...BUT) this team will no doubt finally hoist the Stanley Cup for the nations capital. Hockey is certainly back on the map in DC in a bigger way than ever before. GO SOUTHEAST CHAMPS, GREAT TEAM EFFORT! I'll try to post some pics tomorrow from the game. Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
You got to see the game live, niiiice. I was watching it and man they are going to be the hottest team entering the playoffs. Great game tonight by the guys around Ovie to step up, I can't wait to see what we do in the playoffs. I'll be rooting for Pittsburgh tomorrow though just because if we get the Senators in the first round it shouldn't be that hard for us to move on.

Re: The Washington Capitals Playoff Stretch Run Thread
The stage is set. The Caps to battle against the flyers in round one of finals.
