Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
I'm gonna go with 3, the only thing keeping me from a 4 is Spurrier, he still haunts my dreams. Everytime I see the 70th Anniversary uniforms I think, Trung Canidate, Matt Bowen, and cutting Stephen Davis.
Wow...that's a HUGE jump in only 1 PRESEASON game difference. Not really convicted in your opinion huh?
I'm not taking this poll thing very seriously, as you can tell... it's just entertainment at this point. |
Didn't Spurrier go undefeated in the pre-season? Yeah he gets a 1 by default..I like what i see so far but Spurrier killed it for ya
How did Spurrier kill anything for me? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying |

How have you missed the several other posts pointing to this subject? I'll catch you up. Spurrier was had AMAZING results in the preseason which included scoring the most points EVER in preseason history! Then came out like a lame duck. Not saying Zorn is identical to Spurrier, don't think anyone is saying that, but we are cautious that we have seen positive results in the preseason go sour when it matters most. It's impossible to judge someone when nothing important or significant has occured. |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
Is it pronounced ZORN-o-meter, or is it zorn-OMETER?
Obviously this is the most critical question. |

Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
Ah, yes I remember those spurrier days. we were pretty awesome in preseason. too bad we had patrick ramsey (or j. patrick as spurrier called him????) amongst most other starters playing twice as long if not longer than any other starter in the league during preseason. Not to mention exposing the playbook before game 1. We should look at the positives from our first 2 preseason games this year. #1 Our first string offense has scored touchdowns against a first string defense in both games. #2 Our first string defense has held other first string offenses to 6 points, with 3 coming by default.(w/o Landry i might add) #3 Our second string for the most part looks good enough where someone can comfortably step in due to injury. (they did last year) #4 and last but not least...no major injuries, at least thus far. hopefully we can keep it up when week 1 arrives.

Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
I am at a 4. I really like what he's doing and where the team is at. Of course when the real bullets start flying things could change.
Did anyone hear Portis' interview on the Sports Reporters show (ESPN 980 in DC) last evening? I almost drove my car off the beltway when he said that Gibbs did not have any (thats 0) audibles last year. Whatever play was called in the huddle was what they went with because there were no checkdowns or audibles. That is an amazing statement. And to think we laughed at Marty when he used only 1. |

Gibbs made a comment about how he had given Campbell the option to run or pass on a critical 3rd down and JC saw the defense and called run? |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
It's Saunders' offense that doesn't use audibles. I think we covered that a few times previously.

OK, I dont remember seeing that. I still think it amazing that in the current NFL a team wouldnt have had audibles or checkdown. No wonder they had trouble scoring points. |

Gibbs also got upset with Campbell when he told Larry Micheals on the radio that he had audibled against Dallas on the amazing one handed catch by Moss. Maybe CP's definition of an "audible" is where he gets to run the ball. |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
5 because he was Zorn to run, and I love everything about him! ZOrn STAR shirts will soon be available!

you said get him in the rigors of a regular season game and i agree. Steve S went undefeated one pre-season and blew everybody out the water only to slump in the regular season..Pre-season isn't nothing wait til the regular to talk. I actually like Zorn from what i see so far. I'm going from 2 to a 4. |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
Zorn is the kind of coach I expected the Redskins to have when Steve Spurrier first came to town.
|

imma go with 5 the dude just oozes confidence and it is infectious

I had said that I gave Zorn a 3 because everything he's done so far has been good, but I'd have to see him in the regular season before he gets a higher rating. So I'm not sure how my rating leads to Spurrier killing "it" for me |

Okay, just wanted to make sure we're seeing eye to eye. |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
Didn't Spurrier use his starters for long periods of time during the preseason games, hence the high scoring (since our starters were playing against the other team's scrubs)?

at this point a 3 just based on it being preseason. lets see what happens when its for real.

The poll is missing 0 option.

It's still a 3, or incomplete. But at least the ones that said 5 or 4 will learn that the NFL is a tough league to be a rookie coach in. |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
I'm taking my 3 and turning it into a 1 until later notice.
|
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
gave him a one,on the upside hes got a lot of room for improvement
|
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
I have no confidence in Zorn at this point. He proved tonight that Snyder made a big mistake when he promoted Zorn to head coach. I know it was his first game, but Zorn looked totally befuddled on national TV.

I second that. |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
Matty, or Mods...is it possible to reset the poll?
We already know the poll in the preseason, I'd be curious to see what the poll says now after his first real action. Then maybe reset it again after half the season has gone by???? Close to 70% say 4 or 5 right now...I doubt that will be the case now. |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
I was planning on running the poll quarterly. Doesn't make much sense to do it weekly.
|
I was planning on running the poll quarterly. Doesn't make much sense to do it weekly.
It kind of has been a quarter, cause didn't you start it week 1 of preseason? (ps- I didn't say weekly...I said next poll mid season) Although, I'm happy with that. I'm sure if we go 2-2 first 4 games, the poll will be significantly better than what it would be today. |
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
Is their not legally a "cooling off period", or "five-day waiting period" before a poll of this nature can be reset?
|
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
two....to be revised in 10 days
|
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
Ill give him a 0.5 until I see improvement..lol
|
Re: Mattyk72 presents: The Warpath Zornometer Poll™
I give him a 5. Unfortunately for him he's stuck with a team that has major problems from years of patching holes instead of having a long term plan.

Hello that is what ever team does. Have you ever seen a team cut every player and rebuild every postion? No. |

No, every team doesnt. In fact the consistently successful teams build talent and depth by drafting with a long term plan. Pgh, and NE are two examples of teams that have a plan and draft to the plan. They might sign a free agent or two but for the most part they have their own talent ready to step in when needed. Wash for years has looked for free agents and needed or not sign them and find a way to make them fit then in a lineman heavy draft draft 3 WRs and a TE. Not much of a plan in my opinion. Jason Taylor is about the only free agent signing I can think of that the Skins needed and knew how he'd fit. |

Well feel free to become fans of those teams. Why stay here and bash the Skins if you are so upset. DUH. |
