Re: Post your NFC East predictions here!
Although I concur with you, folks from the AFC South might have an arguement on that. That division also sent 3 teams to the post season last year. Indy, Jacksonville and Tennessee.
This is true, but Tennessee shouldn't have been in there. They could barely beat the Colts backups to get into the playoffs. Also the NFC East has been tougher historically, this division just showed up on the radar a couple years ago. |

Yeah and the NFC east is a better division over the last five seasons. Just because they were good last year doesn't make that division a powerhouse. |

Is anyone watching the Giants-Browns game, the gmens dline is putting some hurting on Derek Anderson. I hope our line holds up better then the Browns.

Even if we had Peyton Manning as our backup, that would not translate into 6 more wins for just 1 person. About Campbell, we certainly saw some growing pains last year, but I think he's going to surprise you. About predictions: Redskins 11-5 Cowpatties 10-6 Giants 9-7 Eagles 7-9 |
Re: Post your NFC East predictions here!
Jsarno is right on this one, six games is more than the difference between Jon Kitna and Tom Brady, in most estimations. It's pretty downright insane to suggest that Jason Campbell could be so bad that he could single handedly keep a 12-4 team out of the playoffs.
Downright insane. |
Re: Post your NFC East predictions here!
I see '08 as something of a repeat of '07. I definitely spect Philly to be at the bottom again w/ either Dono or Westbrook hurt for a while, plus the Philly d won't be as good (Dawkins ain't the same since he got rocked last year). We'll be next and just squeak into the playoffs if we're lucky. The giants will be next primarily because of their freakishly awesome defense and the emergence of Eli as a true elite QB. The Cowpokes have too much talent not to own the division once again, but I believe their coaching structure/confusion continues to thwart a serious playoff run. So...
Pokes: 12-4 Gmen: 11-5 (maybe 10-6) Skins: 9-7 Eagles 7-9 (maybe 8-8) |

Last time I checked Collins lead the Skins on an amazing end of the season win streak last year that put the team into the playoffs. If memory serves a lot of people on this site said the team would be screwed if TC had to play any significant amount of time (some wanted him gone because they thought he stunk in preseason, he did, and so much for preseason being a predictor of anything) and as it turned out he was the player that salvaged the season. |

I don't think that you can put that squarely on the shoulders of TC tho. I believe it was a total team effort. CP put the team on his back running the ball, and TC knew Saunder's offense better than JC so he could run it better. Wiht a new O being installed, I look for TC to struggle if placed in the same situation. |

Every year the "experts" pick Dallas to win the NFC. Every year the "experts" are wrong. The "experts" say they have 13 probowlers on thier roster. Probowl doesn't mean S#!%! It's a stupid popularity contest. They have NO depth behind TO at wideout, Romo CHOKES in big games, they sign overrated players like Tank Johnson and Adam Jones, Roy Williams couldn't cover your grandma and they have a hack head coach! What makes people think they're even gonna win the division?!?!?!

Of course every win (and loss) is a team effort but it was obvious that once TC came in the offense's tempo was much quicker because he could get the ball out on passes which opened things for CP's running. TC wasnt the sole reason for the run but he was absolutely the catalyst. BTW, TC struggled mightily in preseason which is why IMO he wasnt the starter. It turns out he could run Saunders O better than JC but in preseason it didnt look that way. My point is, to say that having TC come in for JC is a major downgrade at QB is completely false. The evidence just does not support that prediction. |

Using that logic we might as well let anything and everything fly around here since who's to say what is logical and rationale? Campbell is the best QB ever in the history of the game. How does that taste. Respect that. ;) Seriously though, Jsarno and Gtripp addressed this quite well to explain just how garbage it was. You don't seem to be respecting Matty's opinion that that post was complete garbage. In all seriousness, it's one thing to demand that everyone respect everyone's opinion and that's a noble trait that should be exercised when it's called for. But there's also something to be said for respecting the collective intelligence of the members here and the integrity of this site. When an "opinion" lacks any substance or is erroneous in fact then it should be called out. The difference of opinions is what makes the site strong. But when an opinion like benching Campbell means 6 more wins is presented it would be a disservice to everyone else to simply "respect" it. In my view, there are two ways to respond to a post like that a) ignore it and hope it just fades into warpath oblivion or b) challenge the original poster to back up their statements. If Troy is so sure about what he's saying then he certainly will be able to defend himself. Though we may not agree, maybe he will add a little more reasoning behind what he has said. I mean irish seemed to make an attempt to defend Troy's case (though I disagree, at least irish tried). I think both TC & JC could take this team to somewhere in the 7 to 9 win range. Like I said in some previous posts, the preseason does not predict anything from player performance to team record. |

yeah like dirtylandry said, they are 1 injury to TO or romo away from being a non-factor. that being said, if those 2 stay relatively healthy they will probably win the division. guess we'll have to wait and see. NFC East: 1- eagles (10-6 if mcnabb stays healthy, he looked good beg of last year) 2- cowboys (10-6) 3 - skins (8-8 no playoffs, next year we should be on top) 4 - giants (7-9) hard to not put the skins on top but unless our D steps up from a solid performance last year we remain a grind it out .500 team that needs a another spectacular push in the end to snag a wildcard spot. next year i anticipate high expectations around here. go skins! |

And the last I checked, Collins was a Saunders hand picked guy who knows his offense, and as of today, Saunders offense is in St. Louis, but Collins is in Washington. In short, what we saw from Collins last year, can very easily be a 1 time occurance. |

I think Garrett's offense was figured out, and there is no way they will be a top team like last year. They will be good, sure, but so won't all of us in the east. This seems to be a year that all 4 teams in the east have an equal shot at the division. |
Eagles 6-10 (They missed their chance, they wont have another until they stop investing in Mcnabb)
God forbid me go out of my way to defend the Eagles, and I'm only really responding because I agree with you that McNabb isn't leading anyone anywhere. I do think to say that they don't have a chance to compete because of their QB is ignoring all the talent that has developed in the last two years since I started the "Is it me, or do the Eagles have no talent" thread back in the Summer of '06.
Top to bottom, they are the deepest team in the NFC this side of Green Bay. They have the best offensive weapon in the conference, and have really, really invested heavily in both of their lines. For the first time since 2003, they go three deep with competent corners, and when they do add free agents, they make it someone like Chris Clemons, who we Redskins fans know can produce at DE. Even at the Quarterback position, they are in better position now to deal with a McNabb injury than at any point last year, with Kolb having spent his rookie year under the tutilage of Reid and Morninweg. I think it's fallacious to act like they are McNabb's team, because they are a very good team, QB aside. If McNabb plays decent football, they probably win the East, but again, I'm not totally confident that he will play his best this year. |
