Yes. I couldn't remember if it was Griffin or Daniels who is always injured, every year. One of them is not to bad even though they have yrs playing.

I think it also boils down to $ and how much they will reap by cutting someone.
Griff has been injured a lot, Daniels was on IR last year.

I'll be honest, it would be nice to see the young guys 5 yrs and less,

DT:
Boschetti: 6-4 311, 5yrs playing.
Montgomery: 6-6 315, 3yrs playing.
Golston: 6-4 320, 3yrs playing.
Alexander: 6-1 300, 2yrs playing.
LB:
Campbell: 6-2 232, 7yrs playing.
Fincher: 6-1 238, 3yrs playing.
McIntosh: 6-2 232, 3yrs playing.
Rian Wallace: 6-3 243, 3yrs playing.
Blades: 5-10 250, 2yrs playing.
Sinclair: 6-2 245, 2yrs playing.
Tyson Smith: 6-2 250, 2yrs playing.
DE:
Carter: 6-4 252, 8yrs playing.
Wilson: 6-4 246, 2yrs playing.
Buzbee: 6-3 265, 1yr playing. I think he was injured last yr.
Rob Jackson: 6-4 259, R. Unknown.

Have bigger roles and allow the older guys to come in as relief players to keep them healthy for any push for the play offs. oops, I should not have said that. lol.

I know I kinda picked some who have 8 or 7 yrs. Only cause Carter is still an intricate part of our D and I really like what Campbell (LB) brings to the table.

Daniels has been injured more if memory serves. I remember Evans filling in considerably prior to this year when Daniels had to go on IR. He's the oldest player and most injury prone it seems to me: if any vet is gone on d i think he should be the first to go... ok after Springs and Taylor so we can play in FA this year :)

Prior to this season, Daniels missed one game in the last three years

which one has the chronic back problems or spasms? If it was the typical foot stepped on or broken bone or an injury were they can come back from then keep them but I thought one had an issue with back spasms and would start but would regularly come out of the game for his back.

That REALLY surprises me... i remember in years past seeing Evans in there off and on. Maybe it's a matter of big d playing hurt a lot so he'd be on the sidelines resting off and on?

phillip daniels is one of the few locker room leaders we have on this team. hes strong, solid against the run, doesnt have a high salary and embraces the role of tutoring the youngins on our team on how to prepare like professionals.

we need daniels healthy and active next year, hes not a flashy player but IMO you need guys like him around.

go skins!!

I agree. If not as a player maybe as an assistant coach.

Re: I think the Redskins should Go to A 3-4 Defense.

... be a tough call on big daniels. I know he's a leader but the savings from cutting him looks to be over $2 million and it's going to be very tight already if we have to address any needs in FA... we're gonna have to make some cuts somewhere.

Re: I think the Redskins should Go to A 3-4 Defense.

Indeed. Tough call. He has improved his strength and conditioning in the past 2 years competing in those 'power lifiting' competitions during the offseason but never got the opportunity to show it. He has mentored Demetric Evans and has offered to play the interior on pass rush situations. I also do not want to cut him because we need leaders like him but if push comes to shove, he should be the last man we cut after we have released all other expensive but unperforming players on our roster.

I think he's also a leader in the locker room. I mean he called out Shawn Springs for not showing up to OTAs (I can't remember if it was last year or this year). I hope they can keep him, if the cap allows it.

Here's my bit of devils's advocate on wether or not the Skins have the personell to run the 3-4. Not all 3-4 NT are huge. The article mentions Jay Ratliff and he can't be much bigger then our DTs.

Yeah, it's a total myth that the 3-4 nose has to be some certain size to qualify. I think you just have to be good enough to command a double team. A smaller quicker guy can handle that role just fine as long as he can handle the run as well.

Well judge for yourself, here are the NTs for four 3-4 D teams in the top ten:
Pitt - Casey Hampton - 6'1"/325 lbs.
Bal - Kelly Gregg - 6'0"/315 lbs.
Dal - Jay Ratliff - 6'4"/304 lbs.
NE - Vince Wilfork - 6'2"/325 lbs
