Now that Cooley and JC_R heard about a possible trade through a third party are they going to start whining and saying that they demands to be traded??? This just shows again why Cutler is thin skinned and needs to just play the d*** game. Geez.

Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!

I do not understand why the redskins would trade for cutler . JC will be a good qb i mean last year the wr drop alot of footballs our oline is not that good . JC made alot good plays with his feet too Sure he had some bad plays too .Sure cutler numbers are better than JC.But Denver line only gave up 11 sacks to our 38 sacks last year. I am sure JC may cause some of sacks too. And Cutler has been the same system since he was drafted . Beside the Redskins paid high price to draft JC . It was a trade with denver back in 2005 and i think this year JC will become pro bowl type qb . Also i think the redskins should lockup JC before the season start

I've figured it out!

Patriots:

Get Julius Peppers and the Browns 1st rounder

Browns:

Get Patriots' 3 2nd rounders and Fred Davis

Broncos:

Get Brady Quinn, Redskins first rounder, and another future pick from another team

Panthers:

Get Jay Cutler and cash consideration

Redskins:

Get the Broncos first rounder, the Panthers 2nd rounder, and the Browns two 2nd rounders

Isn't trade speculation fun!! :)

It surprises me how most Skin fans dump on JC!!!! I mean there are several low producing guys that have some kind of cult following... Evans who left for the 49ers was and has never produced as he was suppose to. Yes I don't think JC is a great quarterback but he is more useful than 70% of the qb's in this League.
It surprises me that us Skins fans with so much tradition of useful not great Quarterbacks taking the team to great heights would understand what JC is!

He is a pretty decent QB, who has made less mistakes every year despite the aging and deminishing skills around him on the o-line. JC right now is a very valuable player as far as value of contract...which will change after next year...

Yes Cutler is better!!!

But if the past teaches us anything the Skins can and will win with JC
He does a lot more with a lot less... we have only one #2 reciever playing #1 (moss) after that we don't know... So I will hold off judgement for now.

Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!

Trading for Jay Cutler would be monumentally stupid, even for a franchise with a history of knee jerk reaction personnel decisions. Whether JC is the franchise QB we had all hoped is almost inconsequential. We'd be rewarding another immature millionaire's petulant behavior with monopoly money and blowing up whatever team chemistry we have. On top of that, there is the issue of his Diabetes, which while not debilitating is of concern when you're A) investing a huge sum of money into someone whose physical abilities are of the utmost importance and B) counting on him to be there for the next 10 years. (as any franchise qb would be.)

I do believe Cutler is a good, not great QB, but he's definitely not a "Can't Miss" prospect as some on this board would seem to think.

Does anyone know what type of offense the Broncos run - is it at all similar to Zorn's offense? And I have heard before that it takes 2 years to learn Zorn's offense (at least this is how long it took Hasselback to learn it in Seattle per articles I read on it) - so does it really make sense to trade your starting qb that is 1 year into the learning curve and start over again?

The Broncos are running New England's offense now, with McDaniels as the coach.

Snyder is often falsely accused of being overly involved in the team's football affairs...but if a trade for Cutler did go down, it'd be hard not to think that part 2 of that is bye bye Zorn/Cerrato in 2010. Hello Shanahan

You know I thought about that. It would make far too much sense not to bring Shanny if Cutler somehow ended up in B&G.

Of course the 'same old Redskins' way would have been to trade for Cutler, fire Zorn, hire Shanahan all by the close of business on Friday.

GTripp0012 03-18-2009 04:32 PM

Re: Per Vinny Cerrato, JC is our QB this season!

Shanahan isn't coming here to tell Vinny how to do his job. He'd come here to replace Vinny first, and coach Cutler/Portis second.

Shanahan as a personnel guy has already proven to be a disaster once, though he managed one good trade -- against the Redskins.

The 2005 first round pick deal seems to have come out about a wash.

I also really, really disdain Mike Shanahan, though that's not a very logical reason for not bringing him here.

I don't want Cutler either. We'd probably overpay anyway like we did for CP. I thought Champ for CP was more than fair. Why'd we have to throw in a 2nd round pick?[/quote]

To my understanding a West Coast offense requires a QB with quickness. JC does not have quickness. Also I hear about how many offenses JC has been in. He has trouble reading more than 1 or 2 recievers. My thoughts are timing is the issue with all the different offenses not reading receivers. I do not think this guy is going to pan out. Plus he has NO poise.

I call BS on any trade involving Cooley or Landry. When teams trade, the pro-rated signing bonus comes due immediately (unless there's some uncapped year thing I'm missing). Cooley would be an $ 11M cap hit this year and Landry would be a $ 7M hit this year. No way!

Jason Campbell and picks, possibly. If we could get Cutler, have him agree up front to a long term deal, and do it with Campbell and our 3rd, then fine but if not then pass. Cutler is an upgrade over Campbell, but not a huge one.

Trade?

It is rumored that there is a possible trade in the works for angry Jay Cutler. There were a couple different internet possibilities. The first would be with the Broncos, including Cutler and Scheffler for Campbell and myself. Another was a three way trade between the Browns and in that scenario Campbell and I would go to Cleveland, Cutler/Scheffler would come here and the Broncos would get Brady Quinn, someone else and draft pick.

Trade talk is a weird wake up at 6:30. Obviously something was said between teams to cause this internet trading shit storm. I would be pissed if I got my ass shipped to Cleveland. But seriously, when the internet is the first news I hear about something this big I would hope it to be speculation. Really, it could have been a couple owners bullshitting and joking around about guys and someone leaked it. No big deal. I would be blown away to hear anything more. It is nice to read extreme skins posts about not wanting me to go. Thanks!

By the way, I do get to hang out with John Elway a little bit this weekend at the Dulles Sports Expo in Chantilly VA. I'm gonna bring a ball and ask him to smoke one for me.

I think he's staying for 2009. And hopefully the team will realize they can win with and because of him.

If it were me, I think I'd have already locked him up long-term. But I think he stays this year, maybe gets franchised next year, but 2011? Who knows

I don't think going for Cutler is a good course of action, but locking up Campbell long term before the '09 campaign isn't either. Jason's numbers are not bad by any means, but not so hot as to rush to sign him long term. 2009 is going to make or break Campbell as a Skin. If he excels then yeah sign him to a nice long term deal. Only significant improvement over his '08 performance is going to warrant any resigning after '09. What he showed me in '08 was that he still was a work in progress, which isn't a sign of a franchise QB. He needs a breakout year this season to win me over on resigning him at all.
